I read the email from bloc, and I just wanted to be sure I understood correctly.
TP, as a project, is being discontinued and this website is for support only, correct?
Or is the project continuing but only through the SMF mod website?
insanemustang,
Thanks for migrating over to here. No, TinyPortal is not being discontinued. It will continue to be coded by Bloc and edited to work with newer versions of SMF and supported by him over on the SMF Mod site. However, we don't expect that he will be as active on the support side as he has been in the past. This is why the TinyPortal Team have taken the step to setup this site for support of the best Portal available for SMF at this location. Our primary focus for support will be for the latest TinyPortal though very limited support for previous versions, at least for awhile, will be available here.

Good deal, thanks Zar.
Sure glad we are not using TP and am so happy to hear Bloc will still be doing the coding,
Very Awesome News!
I am glad to know that TP isn't going the way of the dinosaur! :o
My site is SMF 1.1.11 with TinyPortal v0.9.8. I was not looking forward to having to check out any other portals as I really like the simplicity of TP.
Thanks for continuing the product support! 8)
Faded Glory,
Welcome to the TP Support Site.
Support for TP 0.9.8 will likely eventually fade away since it is no longer available. Eventually, it would be better if you make plans to upgrade to the latest TinyPortal, even if you just setup a clone of your live site as a test site. Most of the Team Members here no longer have a site available to do testing with TP 0.9.8 and eventually support for that version will stop entirely.

SMF version: SMF 1.1.11
TP version: TP ver. 0.9.8
I currently have the above on my site and was going to TP to check about upgrading to SMF2 RC3 when I read that TP was shut down with a little link here.
Now I want to upgrage my site ASAP with the latest version before anything else disappears.
Could someone clarify then upgrage procedure to upgrage SMR 1.1.11 TP 0.9.8 to SMF2 RC3 TP1b5.2
Do I need to uninstall TP, upgrade SMF to RC3 then install TP1b5.2 or do I just upgrade SMF to RC3 then uninstall TP /install TP 1b5.2
Thank you
SniffTheGlove, in the future it would appreciated if you wouldn't hijack another topic with your questions. It makes searching for answers to questions much easier for future users, and make a topic much more readable. Thanks.
To answer your question. There's no need to uninstall anything if you're upgrading to a new version of SMF. Upgrading SMF to SMF2 from SMF1 will replace all the forum files so all mods code will be lost, but the database information remains. So all you need to do is upgrade SMF first. Then install the latest version of TP.
From what I can tell, TP isn't going anywhere. It's development just won't be as active as it used to.

I thought it was the chit chat forum where anyone can chat about stuff, also I did not see anybody telling Faded Glory to not hijack threads. My question was on topic what he was talking about.

Actually he was commenting on the subject of this topic which is "Is TP being discontinued". You are asking for support on how to upgrade. Tell me, how is that related to whether TP is being discontinued? Sure the chat board is for anything to be talked about, but not something that is totally off subject.
