Title: Articles cut off
Post by: dbailey on May 06, 2010, 10:23:11 AM
How many characters can an article have?  I am trying to add the following text to a new article but it cuts off after won. I have tried cut and paste and had typing but nothing works.

Any help please.

TEXT TRYING TO ADD
Hanging fir trees upside down goes back to the Middle Ages, when Europeans did it to represent the Trinity. But now, Christmas trees are shaped with the tip pointing to heaven, and some think an upside-down Christmas tree is disrespectful or sacrilegious.

The trees were recently introduced to retailers for in-store displays, so more ornaments could be displayed at eye level to the buying public. And they left more floor space to hold extra stock of decorations.

Upside-down Christmas trees are either hung from a bracket on the ceiling like a chandelier, stood upside-down on a stand, or mounted tip-down on the wall.

While you may not go for this idea in a big way, you might see a few of the benefits. If you have little children, you can keep most of the ornaments away from little hands. Cats and dogs won

This is dependent upon the database table column type. The older versions of TP would allow up to about 65,000 characters. The newer version I believe are using a column type that allows over a million. If you're having a problem with some text, please post the entire text in a quote for us to try out. Also, please remember to provide us with the information posted in our Posting Guidelines (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=581).

How do I tell if my database is old? it is an upgrade to smf2.03 and It is giving me other issues.
Also how do I have it so I have a signature here where I can my smf and tp details.

I am running SMF2.03 +latest tp

dbailey,

Thanks for posting back on this.  The apostrophe problem in various locations is something we have been working hard to sort out.   I hope we have found them all and that all of these issues should be fixed in the pending release of TP 1.0 beta 5.2 once Bloc releases it.  Topic marked solved. O0
