How do I set the permission for the shoutbox so a custom group can see the shoutbox, but cannot shout.
I can hide the shoutbox from this group altogether, but can't seem to leave it viewable without letting the group post in it.
As guest I have it showing but they're not able to post, and this is what I need for this certain group.
Can anyone help me get my head around the permissions system please. :smiley6600:
I don't think there are permissions to allow or not allow a group to shout. It only applies to guests. This would have to be an added feature I think.

Thanks IchBin, wasn't me going completely mad then. lol... Spose my hair will grow back. :D
I thought I'd be able to adjust permissions for groups as with regular users / guests / etc, etc. :uglystupid2:
lurkalot,
This was actually something I mentioned either on the TP Team Board or the Alpha Board at one time but nobody really commented on it so I never really followed up on it. Being that the ShoutBox is a separate module for TP, it could probably be done at some point in the future if Bloc decided that enough people would like to see it. If you feel that this would be a good feature, feel free to post it in the BugTracker as a Feature Request and perhaps, when everything else is working good, Bloc will consider this feature.
ZarPrime
ZarPrime, I see you've added a feature request to the bugtracker for this now. thanks. O0
The reason I wanted to turn off shouts for a certain group was because I had to set up a test account to get help with a permissions problem with SMF2 RC3 bridged with Coppermine 1.5.3RC.
I wanted my front page to look as it would for regular users, but without the ability to spam my shoutbox. The only way I could stop this was to make the shoutbox un-viewable to this group, thus making my front page not look like it would in the real world.
I understand. FWIW, I had asked for this feature quite awhile ago on the Team Board, long before anyone mentioned it here. ;) Because nobody else had asked for the feature at that time, I never really followed it up. I will add a link to this topic in my Feature Request.
ZarPrime
ZarPrime, a case of great minds think alike then. :D Just wanted to thank you for adding the feature request. O0
I have trouble getting my head around all the permissions stuff to be honest. :idiot2:
Logic from a user point of view tells me that if I inherit permissions from guests the shoutbox would behave the same.
