Title: Having an issue with the tinyportal 2.0 RC-3
Post by: CjRamser on April 15, 2010, 03:18:28 PM
Verison: 2.0 RC-3
-edited out-
No errors.
I do have mods, I have a few. But this isn't the cause of what I need to figure out.

Anyways, I was wondering how do you fix the last recent post thing to not show up on the homepage of the portal?

Don't you go to frontpage & set the boards to not show topics? Well the very first one we have an admin board & it continues to show up when I say I don't want any boards to show. i.e. it ask this: Number of posts/articles to display on frontpage: it has 5 when I change it to 0 & when I save & go back to that page it says 5 again? What is going on? & the rest of the boards have -none- to show but the very first one doesn't have that option? Please help & hopefully you understood if not. My apologizes.

Are you using the TP 1 beta 5-1 ? I think some issues where fixed with your problem area, but I can't remember if there were any in the last release.

Yes, I am.  I just installed it today, so I really don't have any idea. I guess it just finally released to be able to work on rc's I guess. I asked about this a few weeks ago & someone said there wasn't a tinyportal that supported rc's yet.

illmakeyouscream,

I just looked at your site.  You are still using TinyPortal v1.0 beta5.  An updated version of TinyPortal (TinyPortal v1.0 beta 5-1) was released just 4 days ago to fix the issue you have posted about, among other things.  You can find it here --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item1331

Thanks, I just reinstalled the new version. I had no idea. I don't visit tinyportal that often.

Now, when I put 0 it stays. But there is still no option to make the very first recent post board to be hidden. It also shows this now once I changed the 5 to the 0. What's that all about?

I just tried zero (0) on my test site and it works as expected and I don't see anything like what you are seeing in the first image.  If you can't get this to work right, you may have to go through the manual install, or at least extract all the correct files from the beta 5-1 package to your local computer and upload them to your site again.  Another question that might solve your problem ~ If you don't want to show Forum Posts on the FrontPage, why not just make another selection for "*What to display on frontpage:" that doesn't include Forum Posts?

;D LOL ~ Not stupid at all, just not used to it after all this time of being absent. ;) If the last version of TinyPortal you used was TP 0.98, then you've got a lot to learn.  There are tons more options in this new version, even more so than was in the early TP 1.0 betas (and it was a vast improvement over TP 0.98).  There will be a learning curve for old users but this is not unexpected.  We're glad to have you back. O0

I will mark this topic solved.
