Same problem here...
Trying to go directly to the admin page gives the same error.
All I did was activate a block which was set up as Articles from Category. I had created an Category and an article to go with it...

Try this instead:
index.php?action=admin;noblocks
Sorry... doesn't work; same result.
To be exact about the error, mine says:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'IFNULL(mem.realName,art.author) as realName FROM smf_h4ftp_articles AS art
LE' at line 2As opposed to what
pinegr05 posted:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'IFNULL(mem.realName,art.author) as realName FROM smf_tp_articles AS art
LEFT ' at line 2So
LE' instead of
LEFT '.
Teasar,
Welcome to TinyPortal.
It's better to start your own support topic, and reference this one if you think it's appropriate.
I'm not sure what pinegr05's problem is but you mentioned that you had created an "Articles in Category" block. If you are using TP 1.0 beta 5-1 with SMF 1.1.11, this is a known bug. You can read about it here ...
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=bugtracker;sa=bug560
If you read through the bug report, you will see that Ichbin posted a temporary fix for it in another topic.
ZarPrime
Thanks for the welcome and your help :smitten:
But feel free to split off my posts, because I tried the mentioned fix and the problem is still there.
OK, I will split your posts out to another topic and perhaps Ichbin will have an idea. I haven't dug into the new code deep enough to know how to deal with errors that occur with TP 1.0 beta 5-1 with SMF 1.1.11 yet. I have mostly worked with it in SMF 2.0 RC3.
Just to reiterate, the fix I mentioned that Ichbin came up with is located in this post ...
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=32376.msg260521#msg260521
Note to Ichbin: This topic was split from the following topic ...

Teasar, in the meantime, can you Please Read and Follow the Posting Guidelines and be sure to use the posting template at the bottom of that post. (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,581)

Does your error appear on a different line number? What is your line number?
It's mentioning Line: 2153.
Also, I updated the first post to reflect the protocol. Thanks ZarPrime.
Can you please attach your TPortal.php file from your server here?
Sure thing.
Please note that it still shows the fix you mentioned here (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=32376.msg260521#msg260521).
As I had thought, the edit that was suggested was not there. I added the comma to the query. Let me know if this works for you.
That did it! Thank you very much
I didn't check for a 2nd instance... thanks for putting my feet firmly back on the ground.
Thanks for all the work you guys are doing here, superb!
*scuttles away humbly*
I didn't notice the second instance either. I was just adding the one that I saw. :) Thanks for pointing that out, I'll add the additional info to the bug tracker.
