Title: [bugtracker] Number of pages on Frontpage
Post by: Nolt on January 31, 2010, 06:23:46 PM
When you use articles and posts from forum as articles you cannot see numbers of pages on Frontpage.

Nolt, thanks for posting this report.  This may or may not already be in the bugtracker, I'm not sure because I haven't actually looked.  However, as explained below, this has been fixed for 1.0 beta 5, though I haven't yet tested this functionality.  The posts on this won't be visible for you because they were made on the Team Board but you will get the gist of it.  It is good that you posted the bug though, since it will serve to remind Bloc to make sure that this is fixed for beta 5.

Thanks,
ZarPrime

So, I am trying to decide if this is a bug or whether there is some other reason that the page numbers aren't shown on the bottom of the front page for a certain option.

Right now, the options for what to show on the front page are as follows.  The ones with the asterisk (*) in front are the ones I'm asking about now ...
1.  *Only forum-posts
2.  *Forum-posts and articles - sorted on date
3.  *Only articles
4.  Featured article with frontpanel
5.  Frontpanel
6.  Go directly to forum index
7.  TP module

If you select either number 1 or 3, the page numbers are shown at the bottom to link to additional pages of posts and/or articles (see attached pic for an example).  However, if you choose number 2, the page links aren't shown.

So the question is --> Shouldn't the page numbers be shown for option #2 as well, and, if not, why not?

ZP

and from Bloc ...

yup, this is a long standing issue, I left out pages for that mixed option, because the counting/mixing were inaccurate, the pages would show wrongly sorted etc.

In beta 5 this have been fixed, rewriting the db calls helped, and a new routine to determine what lands on which page have been made. I could gone the easy route of just tacking articles first, then forum(or vice-versa) but as TP have been mixing those timewise before, it seems better to continue that. But it needed better code for the mixing.
