hi all,
getting up to date with my other site now.
i have a fresh install of SMF 1.11 with default theme.
installing TP1.0b4 through package manager.
shows test succesful, on proceeding it goes to a forwarding page
http://www.myurl.co.uk/index.php?action=packages;sa=install2;package=tinyportal10beta4.zip
which forwards to:
http://www.ultrarunner.co.uk/index.php?action=tpmod;sa=installoptions
which comes up as a blank page :'(
and thereafter index.php also returns blank.
can anyone with knowledge of this install process suggest how far it actually got ?... and where/why it may have hung ?
i can restore the SMF 1.11 files (presume i just need to re-upload those listed in the mod instruction)....
...am i in manual mod territory here ? (cos i'm naturally lazy yaknow)

There's no way to tell what happened without you checking every step of the way. It could be a server permission problem, or just a hiccup. If it didn't install, and it won't install after a second try, then yes you are in for a manual install. :)
anyone got the mod'd files for SMF 1.11 + TP 1.0b4 i can steal ? ;)
We can't provide those as we would be breaking the law. :)

Besides what Ichbin said about us not being able to supply SMF files here, it would just not be the right thing to do for a variety of reasons. Even if we were allowed to do it, the first time we did this for someone, their next post would undoubtedly be something like "Ouch. I uploaded those files you gave me, and now my <Pick a random SMF Mod> Mod is no longer working". This would cause more problems than it's worth.
The Manual Install is really not that difficult. I'm lazy too but once you do it the first time, it will be easier if you ever have to do it again. Just do it. You'll feel better about everything ;) ...

shame there's not a way of running the mod instruction locally and then uploading.
i'll stop wittering now and get on with it.. ignore me :)
ok... so i have trawled through a manual install and get the same symptom .. which is weird.
one question... in the zip file (tinyportal10beta4.zip) there are eight .mod files.
which should i be using ?
or do i need to work throught all of them ?

If you are following the modification instructions you don't need to use any of the .mod files. You simply upload the TP files, then make the modifications. It doesn't hurt to upload those files if you are unsure though.
ah yes.. upload the tp files.. *ahem* ok mark me fixed.
probably that was the bit that failed on the normal install process without any feedback.
