Title: Help! Guests able to access "no guest areas"
Post by: sturmkatze on November 16, 2009, 05:43:55 PM
I have a history site where I wished to make our publications page only for members. I set the category, called "members only" to not allow guest access, but they can still see the article?? Any ideas why?

Link to my site: http://www.ludusmilitis.org
SMF version: 1.1.10
TP version: v1.0 beta 4
Browser Name and Version: firefox 3.5.5
Mods installed:
TinyPortal      1.083
FCKEditor4TP    1.0
Buy Me A Beer    1.4
Ultimate Profile    0.9
Custom Profile Field Mod    3.19
SMF Ranks

Not that some of it matters because I ALSO cannot get to Features and Options... dragooon had sent me a patch for this, but it won't work either.  Sometimes a little frustrating this kinda thing... w/ the Features and Options problem, I get this when clicking it:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ')' in /hermes/bosweb/web033/b335/ipw.reenactornet/public_html/zz_ludusmilitis/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 185

For your second problem, it looks like there's a missing end parenthesis on line 185 of Sources/ModSettings.php. If you post the line (or attach the file), I'll check it out for you.

I added a bug in the tracker, but quickly realized it was a duplicate.

Don't forget to search like I did. :D

I did a search. It seems when I do, I never find it until someone tells me HOW to search. I was searching under guest access and variants and found nothing. I looked at the solutions... I don't even know where to start. :o

Actually, the problem is on line 184. It should be

'ultprofile' => 'ModifyUltProfileSettings,

There's a missing comma at the end of the line in your file.

Fixed. Now it says:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /hermes/bosweb/web033/b335/ipw.reenactornet/public_html/zz_ludusmilitis/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 185

Yes.

'ultprofile' => 'ModifyUltProfileSettings',

is right. Don't know what happened to the single quote.

Thanks G6!

Okay, that worked, now if I can just get the category thing to work. Lost on that explanation.

Get what to work? As far as I know there is only a fix for beta5 for the category permissions issue.

Oh man :tickedoff: When is that out? And will it work w/ my mods. Especially the FCKEditor mod... Kinda, really need that security. I guess I can password protect it, but that's kind of crude.

hmm sorry to resurect this... just come across this problem and i want to restrict a page with a list of emails on it.

its a php article so i'd have thought i could just wrap an if() {     } round it checking for a membergroup but cant seem to get any of the ssi functions to work in order to do this....

I've posted this type of code quite a few times.

global $user_info;

// Change numbers below to your group ID's
$mygroups = array(4,7,10);

if (array_intersect($user_info['groups'], $mygroups)) {
    echo 'what you need to show only to groups in mygroups array';
}

You can get the group ID number by hovering your mouse over the group links in the ACP.

I have just verified that ...
This bug has been fixed for TinyPortal 1.0 beta 5

For instance, as a guest, you should not be able to access this php article ...
http://talesofthehavenexpanse.com/smf2test/index.php?page=10

At this point, the bug will likely never be fixed for beta 4.

How long is a piece of string?

As long as it takes. :P

Seriously, it's not long. I hate to say weeks because things happen with free time. But Bloc is very close IMO. Now that RC3 is out for SMF there may need be a few adjustments just for that.
