i did a reash install of smf 1.1.10 all was ok with the install of the forum.
i then manuly installed tinyportal10beta4
then when it came to installing it buy using the tp_install.php
and this is what i got in my brouser
Hacking attempt...
and thats all i get.
what have i done wrong or what do i need to do to fix this please.
Do you have the file in your root directory ? it must be located in the root (same dir you have the forum installed ) together with the tp mod files in order to work.
yes all the files are were they should be, my guess it would be good if there was a txt file with the sql db in it.
I've had this problem previously -
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,29861.0.html
and
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,29918.0.html
And after thinking about it, does this problem only occur during manual installs?
If it is, could it be that if the SMF package manager runs the tp_install file, SMF variables are already defined, so the file runs without glitch, but when called manually (ie directly in a browser), as SMF hasn't set any variables, SSI picks it up as a hacking attempt?
I'm not sure if that's possible or not, as I've not looked at the file since I had the problem.
I am getting same error as he have on my website. I have read the all FAQs & etc. I am using supported SMF version along with TP. I do not know why I am getting Hacking Attempt...?
with the TP_install.php does that set up the sql feilds if so does anyone have just the sql commands to do add to the db ?.
No, the file includes the Settings.php file from SMF, so it should not have a problem. I just tested it on my site and did not have a problem. If want I'll take a look at it bunter? PM me a temp admin account and access to FTP to test things if you want.

in did a new install of smf 1.1.10, then i downloaded tinyportal10beta4.zip.
then i did what it said thn these urls in the faq
http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/topic,29.html
and
http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/topic,140.html
i did what these 2 urls said to the letter and i looked at the files i edeted 3 times made sure i put them were they should be same with the install files of TP.
then i did what the faq said
http://test.cbdomain.com/portal/smf/tp_install.php
and you will see the error
and now this is how it looks
http://test.cbdomain.com/portal/smf/index.php
i can only manuley install this as using smf to install it is not an option.
IchBinâ„¢ i cant seem to be able to pm you as it says i cant.
Well I got mine to work. All I did was install from Fantisco, Edited the Language to English in Admin Panel then edited the files. And went to check my site without doing tp_install.php.
Hope it helps, Try to do again fresh install of SMF from Fantisco then upload the files of TP then edit files is what i did to get it to work.
Replied to your PM bunter.
I just tried to manually install TP and got the same hacking attempt as soon as I tried the tp_install.php part. Initially going to my forum site resulted in an CGI error:
"The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers."
I'm assuming this is due to the changes made to the various files.
Standard smf_1-1-10_install.zip and tinyportal10beta4.zip. No additional anything. SMF part worked up until the TP additions. Now neither work.
Also, given that each theme you might upload comes with it's own files, does this mean I will need to manually edit the files every time I choose to change the themes? Assuming of course I can even get TP to run at all in the first place.
*Edit: Well isn't that just odd. I leave the computer for a while to play a game, come back to the website an poof, it's back and TP is up and running. Go figure! LOL, I should walk away from the machine more often.
Hi pmiles,
Welcome to TinyPortal.
Hmmm, perhaps gremlins ~ the only possible explanation. :2funny:
When adding other themes, for the most part, they will run fine. However, if you have added an SMF Mod (remember, Mods have to be installed from the SMF default theme) that makes changes to files that the custom theme includes, you will have to manually add those edits to the custom theme. For instance, if an SMF Mod makes a change to the boardindex.template.php and there is a file with that name in the custom theme, then you will have to manually do those edits. With TP 1.x and newer, the only thing you should ever really need to change is to possibly add a Forum tab, but this is generally only true for themes that aren't available here. Once TP for SMF 2 is available, this will not be necessary, but that is not available yet.
I hope this answers your question.
