Title: TP Redirect and Block Display Problems
Post by: frcaechsn on October 04, 2009, 08:02:48 PM
Alright, now I am having a new problem.  This has probably already been addressed somewhere else but I can't find it.

I took the directions given to make the login redirect to the frontpage...(modifying subs.php) but it will sometimes redirect to my sites home page rather than the tp frontpage (in chrome).  Why would it do this?

Also, when I set a block to display on all pages, it only displays in the frontpage, and forum?(id does the same in smf default theme)

I have smf 1.1.10 installed, theme silent wave, who voted mod, custom action mod, and nneonneo's AJAX ShoutBox.

Thanks in advance,
Austin

frcaechsn,

There is additional information requested in the posting guidelines that we need in order to help you.  Also, you have 2 different issues here, so let's solve one first and then we can go on to the other one.

Please Read and Follow the Posting Guidelines (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,581).  We need to know what version of TinyPortal you have installed, links to both your main site and your Forum, and we also need to know whether you have any other Mods installed besides the ones you mentioned.  Also, if you could post the edits you made in the subs.php file (or attach the file) that might be useful.

I installed tinyportal version 1 beta 4
I listed all the mods installed
In subs.php
function redirectexit($setLocation = '', $refresh = false, $tp_not = false)
changed to
function redirectexit($setLocation = '', $refresh = false, $tp_not = true)

links to main site: www.kyeot.com
forum www.kyeot.com/Member_Area/2009.

frcaechsn,

OK, so you are saying that when you logout of your forum, you are redirected back to www.kyeot.com rather than to http://www.kyeot.com/Member_Area/2009/index.php

Is that correct?  If so, that really doesn't make any sense ...

... Unless you have some sort of redirect setup in your cpanel which takes over the url and directs you back to the main site.  Let me ask you this.  Are all of your SMF and TP files located inside the .../Member_Area/2009/ folder?  In other words, is the location of the Subs.php file at .../Member_Area/2009/Sources/Subs.php

Please attach the Subs.php file to your next post so that I can look at it.  Also, have you tried this with any  other browser besides Chrome, and, if so, what browsers and what happens?

A couple of other things ...
1.  Does this happen when you switch the Forum to the default SMF theme?
2.  Please setup a temp Admin account on your site and PM me the details so that I can take a look inside and try it with different browsers.

First thanks for the assistance ZarPrime and G6,

Uhm you are sortof right.....it is happening when  you login...I have noticed that it happens also in IE and Chrome, but I haven't seen it in Firefox.  It doesnt happen each time just ever so often, like the first time you log on the forum in a day.  (i not exactly sure if that is an accurate measurement of the repititions)

To answer your questions about the directorys, you have listed them correctly....

I did originally have a url mod installed but I have since uninstallled it since I found this easy mod to make to subs.php

I don't think the custom action mod would affect this, but the other url mod might if there were any errors when you uninstalled it.  You may want to get the manual install instructions for the url mod and check to make sure that it was uninstalled correctly.  In the meantime, I will take a look at the subs.php you attached but it may be a few hours before I can post back on that as I am working with Bloc right now on something.

The other thing to try if it's not a consistent thing is to delete your cache in case there's anything in there that's hanging you up.  Oh, just got your PM as well.  You'll need to give me a couple of hours before I will be able to look at it.

no rush, I will try to check that

OK, I have had a look inside your site for a little while and tried logging in and out of the Forum about 8 or 10 times without error.  A couple things jumped out at me.  Even though you have uninstalled the "Redirect on Login and/or Logout mod" that is the likely culprit.  My guess is that one of two things is happening here ...

1.  Try clearing out the browser cache and the cookies for the browser that you are getting the login redirect on.  If this doesn't solve the problem, try number 2 below.

2.  When you uninstalled the mod, it didn't quite uninstall correctly.  Since this is a possibility, the only way to be sure would be to go backwards through the manual install instructions for that mod to make sure that everything that was edited has been restored.

I tried logging in and out of the Forum 8 or 10 times without error.  Each time, both the login and logout directed to the TP Front Page as it should.  This leads me to believe that the edit you made to the subs.php was correct even though I haven't yet looked at that file.  Now, I only did this in FireFox but here in a little bit I'm going to try it with Chrome, IE7, and Opera, just to be sure.  If I have no problems with those browsers, the cookies and cache are the likely issue on your end.  I would check this now, but before I do that, I want to restart my computer because I have a ton of tabs open in FF right now, along with 7 or 8 other programs so I want to close everything down and restart before I check it with the other browsers.

Oh, yeah, the other thing I would do is to empty out your error log.  There are something like 1061 pages of errors.  I was going to look through your error log to see if I could see any sign of an error that would pop out at me but there were just too many.

Alright I think i just figured it out,  My server has another url, members.kyeot.com pointed to the same forum.  when you access it through this link, is when it messes up.  So sorry for the dumbness on my part.  ButThanks for your support.  Is there any quick way to fix the other problem, with the blocks not showing up on all pages?

You have set display properties for each individual block, and where the panels are to be displayed?

I had seen that link at the bottom of your main site when I was on there earlier and clicked on it.  It looked like you had setup a redirect to a subdomain which took me to the FP of your forum but it didn't automatically populate the account name and password so that was probably going to be my next guess.  I suspect that you are correct that this is what is causing the issue.  I think we can probably call the initial issue solved.  All you need to do is change that link at the bottom of your main page.

As for the blocks not showing up, I can take a look at those pretty quickly if you give me a list of the ones you want to show and where you want to show them.

ZarPrime

Edit:  You have all of these below set to "Yes".  If there is an area where you want the blocks to show, you have to set these to "No".  Is this what you were talking about?

In Tinyportal --> Panels and Blocks --> Panels --> ...
Hide panels when in admin section?
Hide panels when in these sections: ...
Yes No - Profile screen
Yes No - Personal Messages screen
Yes No - Memberlist screen
Yes No - Search screen
Yes No - Calendar screen
