I've been trying to set up my article system and have been mostly successful. However I have not had success in allow my users to add comments. When the article is pulled from my forum it works flawlessly. However when I try to add an article in a block to the front page I've been unsuccessful. I have checked and tweaked and tried practically all there is to make this work with no success. When I do a preview o the article in admin it appears to work. But when I go to the frontpage there is no link to add the comment.
I am adding the articles using single article in a block (doesn't matter which panel). The article shows properly just no way to comment.
If you go to my site I have a couple of examples at the bottom on the frontpage. The first one is javascript in an HTML article and the second is BBC in a BBC article.
I've searched the site here as well as in bugtracker to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
When you make, or edit, an article are you placing a check in "Allow to comment?"
Yes I have. I've tried every checkbox in every location to see if there was any affect. The only way I can get a comment link is a forum article.
If you try adding an (Intro) still no comments Upshrink?
Yes when I do intro text I'll get the read more link and of course when I click on that I get the comment box, but the intro box is limited and doesn't fully meet my needs especially if I want to use javascript or post a photo. It's my understanding that I should have a comment link right on that front page article as I've seen in many other sites.
If you want the comments shown with the article, I believe that can only be done in the article itself. If the article is in a single article block, I don't think that comments are visible or can be made.
ZarPrime
single html test Article works for me ..
Yes, but is it the article itself (index.php?page=??) or is the article in a single article type block? As I said, I believe that when an article is in a "single article block". commenting is disabled.

Also, it may have to do with (Do Not Collapse Intially) ?
[edit]
right Zar, it wasn't in a Article block..
Also any type Articles work best if grouped within a Category or suB Cat.
Well that's what I was suspecting since it does work on a page and from a forum article. I don't understand why it would be disabled for a single article on the front page but I guess I'll live with it for now. It wil probably curtail my use of articles however since my front page relies on articles and being able to add comments. Guess I'll just stick to the forum articles and not give my users a broader capability that I imagined TP was capable of doing. I think I'll pop over and make that a suggestion for future releases.
BTW Crip I've done what you've done but it doesn't carry over into the front page.
Bro Nick ,
Article system is being reworked for TP's next release I do bekieve.. ?
