arf,

Well, so far it looks like you are well on your way to having a great site.  The google ads on that one site are in what's called a "top" block.  It appears that you are making use of the left and right panels right now, along with the "upper" panel, where you have an ad.

I would suggest that it's time for you to take a look at our Docs for TP 1.0.  It will give you quite a bit of information but the best thing to do is experiment, either on your own site or on a test site that you have setup.  You have the choice of various block types that can be used in various panels, including left, right, upper, lower, top and bottom.  The possibilities are numerous in scope and you are only limited by your imagination.

The Docs for TP 1.0 are located here ...
http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/board,8.0/sort,subject.html

Read through them and if you have questions feel fre to post a topic in the support board.

ok.  well obviously this has been done before.  I would just like to know if there is an example I can use.

Also... why does TP take like 10min to load google ads?

I don't have any Google Ads on any of my sites but perhaps someone does.  TP doesn't slow down the ads.  Remember that every time your page loads it has to grab those ads from Google, and that can take a while to set those up, especially when you first setup the ads.

I have now split this to a new topic and am moving it to support because it no longer has anything to do with the theme.

I have google ads and ZP is correct, it's not TP that is slowing things down, it is Google.  Most of the time they are quite fast, but on occasions they can take a while to be pulled from Google.  If it is a new google account it might take longer too, in the end they usually settle down.

well. now that u changed the topic i have a question about the theme again.
why are the top menu buttons on my website only underlined when the cursor goes over them. but when you go over them on "fire rock" creator's demo site, they change color?

and. any suggestions for ad sites?  also.  how do i make an audio ad play every-time someone comes to my site?

So many questions ~~~ So few answers. :P

1.  "why are the top menu buttons on my website only underlined when the cursor goes over them. but when you go over them on "fire rock" creator's demo site, they change color?"  This probably depends upon what browser you are using to view the site.  However, as I am viewing your site and Crip's demo site both with Firefox, they are doing the exact same thing, mouse over underlines,  no color change.  If it's doing something else, then you need to post back again in Crip's Fire Rock topic.

2.  Suggestions on ad sites?  I have no idea.  Maybe someone else does.

3.  Audio ads?  Again, no idea.

ok now i have a different question lol.  when i first posted my google ads, i only had 1 ad shown.  Now, when i changed the permissions, it multiplied my ads by 3... why did it do that?

Commision Junction are pretty good for adverts.  Don't go overboard and swamp your site with ads though is my advice.

Do you mean you get three sets of google ads in the block or one banner with three adverts in it ?

3 ads in 1 block

Check your block code, maybe it has got corrupted somehow.  Sometimes with javascript it is best to turn off the editor as dynamic code can sometimes cause problems when you save the code.

Also double check your code from google and make sure you have that set up correctly.

Actually the code from google can easily get corrupted, we see this on SMF and also here on TP several times a month where members have broken code that doesent work for them.

Did you try whats been said so far ? Turn off the editor and just use the frame when you add the code in the block ?

Also, can you post your code you use ( please use codetags when you do ) so we can test it on our testsites.

ok well. im trying to get a couple ads to work.

also.  when i look at my site in I.E. the menu bar is messed up.  any fixes?

I cant get an audio ad to autoplay.  i tried putting it in "index.template.php"
the code for that is this:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
naa_siteid="1255119587";
naa_sitename="Tubelo";
naa_test="no";
naa_keywords="college, student, biology, logic";
naa_noads="realty wood paper porn breasts";
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://aa.voice2page.com/naa_1x1.js"></script>

the code for my google ad is
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: 11px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5116534639857106";
/* 728x90, created 9/24/09 */
google_ad_slot = "8583959782";
google_ad_width = 728;
google_ad_height = 90;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script></span>

----
note i cannot get this google ad to fit inside the alloted area.

Please, repost the code ( Edit your post ) and add the code within the codtags # symbol
The code doesent render properly if your not using the codetags.

Well that google adverts works fine for me.  Did you turn off the editor like we said and then re-enter the code ?  If you keep saving it with the editor on then it will duplicate the code - this is the problem I described with javascript.  The screen shot shows this behaviour ..

Quotealso.  when i look at my site in I.E. the menu bar is messed up.  any fixes?

What version of IE are you using ?  You are probably best asking Crip about that in his theme thread - this issue is supposed to be about google adverts....

Audio is supposed to show up? I thought audio was heard, not seen. I do not understand what you are saying...

ok. so with these audio ads, they are supposed to have a pause+play+stop menu show up, and auto-play an audio ad.

Where you got the code for the audio ad, did it state that it was supposed to auto play?
