Hi folks. Here's the situation, I've now got my site split over two servers. On one, I've got a full TP portal, and on the other I've moved all my messageboard stuff. I'd like to keep it like this to balance the load, so what I now want to do is change my front TP page on server #1, so that it will get the posts from my update forum on server #2.
I'm sure there are many ways to do this - would RSS do it? I've never really used it, but have tried searching, and it seems it will pull out the latest posts, when all I want is for the latest topics to be displayed (in full.)
Thanks.
Someone else will need to answer your two server question for your forum, I've seen questions about that on SMF and that's were that part of the question can best be answered.
As for the TinyPortal part... TP will be where ever your install of SMF resides because TP is installed as a package to SMF and cannot be anywhere else.
Neil, if you'll post the information called for in the posting guidelines it may be easier for the Team to help.
Please read the Posting Guidelines.html (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,581)
I've read them :-)
I figured, actually, it was more to do with TP - I simply want to read in an update forum from a server that is seperate from the one where TP is actually installed. I'm thinking a code block with SSI would likely do it, but don't know much about SSI.
So you have two forums, and you want to pull the recent topics from one forum to the other in TP's frontpage? Are these sites on the same server? If not, you'll only be able to do it with an RSS feed. This assumes your server allows you to pull external feeds as well.
