I've set it up, and the shoutbox shows fine. However any new shout I key in does not appear at all. Going to the admin panel does that they weren't even stored.
Can I know if I need to set some file permissions to store the shouts?

When looking at your front page, I can see 1 test shout fine as a guest. Also stored in the "Last 50" shouts, accessed next to the Shout button.

Yes, that was from a few years ago with TP0.98, I think. After I upgraded it doesn't work anymore. If you post a new shout it won't register.
Are you getting any errors in the forum error log? If nothing there, how about the server access/error logs?
I get this a lot:

That could be the problem, the shoutbox is a module. Did you get any errors when installing or upgrading TP? Did you continue with the installation? I would run through the manual install guide and check all the files were edited correctly. Pay particular attention to the TPmodules.php file.
Thank you.. what I did was I used SMF's package manager to upload the zip of tinyportal, so I thought everything would be automated.
Anyway I manually unzipped the archive and ran tp-install.php, and it created a bunch of new tables. This doesn't help however, the shouts are still not being stored. Is smileys_enabled a new table field? Is it created by tp-install.php?
Ok I did some testing and apparently the problem is the logging in.
I have 'allow guest shouts' set to onin the admin panel.
However the shouts are only stored if I am a logged in user. If I am not logged in the shout does not appear. Is this normal? Is the shoutbox still in development?

You need to go through the files and make sure they are correct.
Since you have made some changes, clear the error log, make a new test shout, go back and check the error log again.
The Shoutbox module is not currently being developed. Development is being focused towards TP 2 and updating themes.
