SMF version:1.1.10
TP 9.8
Theme name and version:Airy_Midnight
Browser Name and Version:Firefox 3.0.12
Mods installed:Gallery lite rss feed and I can't think of all of them
None Just a question:
Just a dumb silly question that has probably been answered several million times but I find no real answer to it.
I've noticed your all of you say to change your theme to the default before installing any mods. But, does this mean change all the articles and and what have your to the default theme or just the front page of SMF? Also, what is the reasoning behind changing to the default theme. Is this a PHP thing or a Core thing?
Sorry just trying to understand.
Guy
Thanks just wondering
The default theme is the foundation of what everything is built on ( Core )
When you install anything to your site, you must add it to that foundation for it to work and be steady.
If you install to another theme as your default, it's like continue to build beside the core, and things will break as it have no steady foundation.
Thanks G6 I believe I understand why now. Kind of like building a house, you start at the foundation and build up from there add to the foundation as you build. Humm! Makes sense.
Thank you for the explanation as that helps.
