Hi,
In articles written with tinyportal V1.0 beta 4 (but also in beta 3) I have the following "thing" after saving the article.
Can somebody inform me what this is and if this can be avoided / solved.
Maybe this is already asked before but I searched the forum but did not found anything.
Regards,
Fred,
The Netherlands
It is usually a character that is not interpreted by the documents(articles) character set. If you are not using UTF8, and you post a character that can only be displayed in UTF8, it will show the character that you have shown.
It is usually something like a character from another lanauge besides English, or a character created by someone like Micro$oft.
I have a UTF8 language selected (Dutch UTF8)
Besides, is't not a character I've typed but an enter.
Here is the html code
<P></P>
Fred
How can that be an enter? It would only show that way in the output. If you are inputing that character into your article, then that is why it is showing up.
Can you post a link to your site so we can see it?
I checked a bit further and it happens after two enters or two spaces.
I guess I should not do that.
check it at: www.rodebaert.info
Thanks for the link. I'm going to try and replicate the issue when I get a moment. If you'd like, you can enter a bug in our bugtracker for Bloc to take a look. If I find out what is wrong, or figure out a fix I'll get to the bug before he does. :)
I have tried this on our test site with the same theme you are using, and cant replicate this.
are you using some sort of editor, ie frontpage, or anything like that?
what sort of article are you using HTML, PHP or BBC
@ Ichbin: I will enter a "(possible) bug in the bugtracker
@ Lesmond: I use the standard wysiwyg editor that comes with TinyPortal v1.0 beta 4. I'm using the HTML article. If you wish I can create a temp account for you?

Hi Fred, not sure if I could help there! as we dont use UTF8 on the test site, maybe we should set that up too ???
Hi,
I'm getting this aswell when I write HTML articles.
I use SMF 1.1.10 and TP 1.0 Beta 4
Skuggan could you please start you own topic, regarding this matter
I remember seeing this many months ago back and think it is either a db or language issue. I can't remember which. I'd have to do some digging to make sure.
Well, this is also happening to my website too.
The Possible solution is to not double the space or double the enter... But the easiest way to settle this is converting your article into a bbc, so then you can just add
to enter and just put spaces.
Thats how I solved my error with it.
Update:
No error in BBC, BBC is similar to HTML, it shows whats listed, so you dont need
etc. Just use like:
Hello
Whats Up
Its very similar to html.
Glad to help :buck2:
Have you tried uploading a new utf8 file?
Seems like everytime I have ever seen that character, it was from a non-breaking space ( ) in the code to ensure a space was there.
