Link to my site: http://www.ucdcanoeclub.com
SMF version: 1.1.9
TP version: 1.0 beta 4
Theme name and version: Aero79_smf11RC2_TP, but have been trying using the default smf theme
Browser Name and Version: Safari 4.0.2
Mods installed: None
So i have a clean install of SMF 1.1.9, on an existing Database.
When installing I am using the default theme
I manually upload the TP Installer and then click apply mod in the package manager.
I get this message:
FTP Information Required
Some of the files the package manager needs to modify are not writable. This needs to be changed by logging into FTP and using it to chmod or create the files and folders. Your FTP information may be temporarily cached for proper operation of the package manager
So i put in the FTP Info, and all of the tests for installation passed.
Before when went ahaed with the install, the window when white and did nothing.
Then when I went to try and install the package again I got the following error:
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!
I have read this topic:
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=25532.0;all
And checked with my host. I do have ownership of all the files with the FTP Info i supplied to SMF
I have also tried putting a temp folder in packages with 777 permissions. I have tried this several times but it has failed with varying results. Sometimes the board stops working at all. Sometimes the board works and smf is marked as installed in the packages directory, but there is no sign of any of its features.
Any help is appreciated.
Hi Truckle, welcome to TinyPortal.
It sure sounds like a permissions issue, but because you've already looked at it from that angle then it's likely that you'll need to do a manual install of TP.
You'll find directions at this link:
How do I manually install TinyPortal (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=29)
Thanks, Ken, might have to do that to run the most up to date version of smf / tinyportal.
I have gone back to SMF 1.1.6 and TP1.0.5 Beta for now.
You should be able to update your forum from within the admin panel to the latest version fairly easily. It shouldn't require any reinstalling of mods or anything if it works right.
