Title: Block that frames another site
Post by: Rus on July 04, 2009, 08:06:27 PM
Is there a block that I can use that will import the page from another site?

Say I built blahblah.com from another kit and can't make the theming look the same as the one I have here so I don't want to just link to it.  I can however make it just output the content that I want.  Can I grab that content into a block or article?

You can do this using a single article and creating an article from an external site.  Use the type of external.

you can import any site into a block using an iframe, but you will be limited to a center/front page block, or any large block, unless you build the html/php page your self, if you could give us a bit more info it may help

and like Ren says an article too ;)

Thanks guys.

I'm looking at including a job board on my site.  Simply Hired lets you do this but at best it looks ugly unless you partner up with them and can do more advanced API programming than I am capable of.

So stripped down, this is what I would like framed by my site:

http://ibmersfirst.jobamatic.com/a/jobs/find-jobs

Unfortunately with the article version this is what it looks like:

http://www.ibmersfirst.com/index.php?page=3

Would the Iframe option work better?  If so, how would I do that?

you could try this Iframe code here (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,26382.msg211024.html#msg211024) that Ken posted, but this works best when the site you are calling into the Iframe is on the same server. you will see at the bottom of the code where you place you url 8)

or just a plain Iframe like this and adjust the height and width to suit

<iframe src="http://ibmersfirst.jobamatic.com/a/jobs/find-jobs" frameborder="0" height="1000" scrolling="no" width="100%"></iframe>

Excellent, thank you very much.  That looks a lot better.
