Also, the board the I have set for "Display forum-posts on frontpage from" is by default not allowed access to Guests. Does this feature not work?
By news it means the news that is under news and newsletter, not the news you put on the frontpage. Also if the board that is being used to pull info from for the frontpage does not allow guest access then guest will not see it.
That features should work as you describe Salkiri. When you set a board to display as news on your frontpage, and then check the option for guests to be able to see the news, even if not allowed, it should work. Make sure your frontpage is set to display posts on the frontpage. Unfortunately, that is all the help I can give you because you haven't provided any information on your setup.

As Ichbin said, this should be working the way you described it and if it isn't then there is probably something set wrong. If you would like me to take a look and see if I can figure it out, setup an temp Admin account and PM me the details and I will go in and see if I can figure out why it's not working.

Sorry for the long delay in responding to my problem. I've been extremely busy.
In any case, this is what I have done to reproduce the problem.
1) Installed Fresh Copy of SMF 1.1.9
2) Installed Fresh Copy of TinyPortal 1.0B4
3) Created new Board called Daily News. All groups except Guest have access to view.
4) Set TP to use Daily News as Frontpage.
5) Posted new Topic to Daily News, visible on Frontpage when logged in, but not visible when Guest viewing.

If the following:
Display forum-posts on frontpage from: is what is being called "news" then I bet that the board(s) that forum post are being pulled from has to allow guest view also for it to show on the frontpage to guest.
By news it may mean from the: News and Credits area...
Just some thoughts
On the TP -> Frontpage Settings there are two options that I'm looking at here.
1) Allow Guests to see news from the news board - even if guests are not allowed to see the board? Currently set to yes.
2) Display Forum-Posts on Frontpage from: Currently set to Daily News.
They say this is supposed to work, but yet it isn't. This is a default installed of both SMF 1.1.9 and TP 1.0 Beta 4. No other mods, themes or anything else for htat matter has been installed.
Do the permissions for the board "Daily News" allow guest viewing?
Although the Frontpage setting may allow guest to view, if the board news is pulled from restricts views from Guest then the boards permissions may take precedence.
Guests DO NOT have permissions to view the board. But as IchBin and ZarPrime both stated, this is supposed to work. I'm almost positive this used to work on older version as well. Both EZPortal and SimplePortal seem to pull the News if even when the Guest doesn't have access, but I'd perfer to use TP since the other two jsut don't hold up to TP.
Have you changed it to allow guest to view the board to see if that allows them to see it on the front page? If it does then we will want to possibly file it as a bug so Bloc can review it.
It does work if I enable Guests to view Board. Unfortunately, we don't want Guests to be able to see the comments without logging in first.
OK, it does indeed seem that this may be a bug. On my test site, I have 3 Articles and one News board set to show on the Front Page and "Allow guests to see news from the news board - even if guest are not allowed to see the board?" is set to YES. When the News Board is set to allow Guest Access, everything is shown properly as it should. However, when Guest Access to the News Board is unchecked, only the Featured Article is shown when logged out. In other words, not only is the News Board not shown but the other 2 Articles aren't shown either.
I will look through the bugtracker here in a little bit to make sure that this particular bug hasn't yet been reported yet and if it's not in there, then I'll report it.

Is there any Fix to this BUG yet? I would really love to change over my site, but I'm still waiting on this part. Otherwise I'll have to look at other Portals for the time being. :(
No, there is not yet a fix, and there are some bugs ahead of this one that were reported first.
