Title: Sad day today
Post by: IchBin on May 09, 2009, 10:18:51 PM
Had to put my buddy down today. He had a long battle with getting old these last couple of years. Today, we went to the Vet because he started having breathing problems and some other things. Ended up deciding to put him down. His name was Brock. He was an awesome dog with my kids, and was a very affectionate and friendly dog. R.I.P buddy.

Sorry to hear that Brad. :'( Our pets are just as much a part of the family as our children are.  Knowing that they normally don't live as long as the other members of the Family does nothing to ease the pain when the time comes.  I feel for you man.  Some of my best Buddies have been my animals over the years.

There's a reason why they call them Man's (and Woman's) Best Friend. I have two Beagles and these guys can make a BAD day MUCH BETTER. My oldest one just turned 12 years old and the youngest turns 9 years old in 2 weeks...had them both since they were 6 weeks old.

I know what you did was a VERY difficult thing to do...I do know that I have already made arrangements with my LONGTIME vet that when Louie or Buster's time comes...if time and circumstances are right...he will come to my house to assist with their final needs. Of course, I hope they go like I hope to go...a heart attack in my OLD (very OLD) age.  :)

I'm so sorry, Brad. It's a sad, but loving thing you did. I've had to do similar things several times.

Sad... I have my own dog, he is also kinda old 16years now... he doesnt act like 16 year old dog rather than 2 or 3. He is full of energy, still want play all the time with his toys but... sometimes I see that his all body shakes without any reason just because he is so old. Lot of ppl and firends when they meet him 1st time ask me what food im gaveing to him heh and dont believe he is 16 cuz he dont act like dog in his age but I know its a matter of time cuz dogs dont live more than 18 maybe 19 years so...

Maybe try to buy a new dog it will helps u forget a litte bit about your lost and fill the empty place in your heart.

Hard decision to make there, but you know what is best Brad.

My mother had a 21 year old Pekingese that, after many years of us trying to convince her that it was time, she up and took the little fella without any warning to us. It was sad too, but we knew he wasn't in so much pain anymore.

I think we just all love our pets so much. They're a good judge of character and act better than kids most of the time. ;)

It is indeed a sad day when you lose a member of the family like that.
We know that this is part of life... still it hurts and we feel the pain with you Brad.

R.I.P. Brock.

Thank you everyone. Was a hard day. Still running into all those things around the house that remind me of him. He was a great dog. My youngest kept asking me when we get to see him again, but I think she gets it now. She has said a couple of times, don't talk about Brock its going to make me cry.  :-\ Anyway, thanks for the kinds words everyone.
