I have tried wordpress and found it way to complicated to use so now i want help in finding some other lightweight blog software thats free and work with PHP and SQL
It is for my 9 year old son that want to use his own blog for bionicles Xbox360 and school
So it has to be easy to work with.
I have googled some but it's a jungle and the info on most softwares and demosites are horrid.
So if anyone knows a blog software it would be great...

I know that WordPress is a little complicated, but 9 year old children are usually really good at picking up on this stuff and I'm betting that your son is no exception. The features and options available in WP far outweigh the 'learning curve'.
Have you tried the Windows Live Writer (http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/default.aspx?sa=428045775) utility that can be used with WP? It is a desktop WYSIWYG editor that's really easy to work with and will publish articles/blogs directly into WP. I've used it for a couple of years now and it's now very rarely that I work directly in my WP pages, I use Live Writer for almost anything I do in WP.
...it also works with other blog software's, including the two mentioned above.
And, did I mention that it's easy to use... like, better than an email easy. :)
EDIT: Me gonna have to download the latest Live Writer!!! It now works with Twitter!!! :2funny:

I'll second the vote for blogger. It is very easy to use, but you can get a very nice blog out of it.
Looked in to the blogger, but it seems that they dont support other languages then English for some reason, or im to blind to find anything about other language files and how to add them in, im to spoild with SMF and TP i guess :P

I'm not sure since I've never used Blogger but at the bottom of their main page (https://www.blogger.com/start) there is a language link that will take you here --> https://www.blogger.com/language.g
You can change your language on that page.

HM, now when i look at them again, they are not scripts you download and install on your own server space ? They are online *register* blogs, and thats not what i was looking for, i want a blog script i install to my own server and manage my self, as it's for Dennis, i want to have 100% control of what beeing showed at all times, these free blogs adds things for advert ( to stay alive im sure ) but you cant control any of that content from what i read there now.
What im looking for is a blog script i can download, install and manage just like i can with SMF and TP.
Been looking for some time now and it seems like it's just one option and thats the wordpress, but thats more complicated to work with then it's worth IMHO.
The Windows live writer seem to only be a tool to create things locally and then upload to live journal ?
Im sorry if i sound like a retard right now, but im lost in that blog world hahaha.
What im looking for ( or more Dennis want to have )
1- A blog script to place on our own server space
2- You must be able to have Swedish language option
3- Must be so you can add images
4- Must be so you can add small image slideshows from Windows Moviemaker.
5. Must be able to have it all closed down so only Dennis can create his content, but others to comment on them ( preferly with admin check before the actual comment show up )
6-Rather easy to change the template or add your own header as he have made one himself he want to use with bionicles in it.
So thank you for taking your time looking in to this and for helping me with this.
One thing i have thought of is to make a SMF forum with TP offcourse and then use that blog mod from SMF, but when i tried it the last time i more or less broke my entire test site :2funny: , but atleast i can manage to handle it and explain to him how it works. But a blog script allready made with these small functions i look for would be lighter and less work for me ( have a hard time doing things as is right now ).
Have you had a look at zCommunity? Its a mod for SMF.
Right. Blogger is on their server. I'm not sure you're going to find something that's simpler than WordPress that you can install on your own server. I think there is an assumption that if you want "simple" you don't want to install it yourself.
I could be wrong, though. It's been known to happen. ;)
I tried the SMF blog mod just yesterday. I'm afraid I wasn't all that impressed with it.
I'll do a little more searching, though, and see if I can come up with something.
Yes, thats the blog od i was refering to, but it messed up my testsite totally, was in December i tried it and as far as i can see there have been no updated after that ???
blogger is the best online solution
and
wordpress is the best server install for creating your own blog...
but you could give typepad (http://www.typepad.com/) a try
it doesnt have near the customizations that wordpress has, but should be easy for your son to use
In the end it's your choice of course G6, but after having tried and used several blogs my vote still goes to WordPress + Windows Live Writer.
Once you get it set up you would then use Live Writer as a desktop app, (just like email) and it will then publish your entries to WP. (or several other blogs as listed on their site)

The only other blog that I've ever liked was the one Feline wrote, but it only works with SMF 1.x whereas WP is a stand alone blog. (and she no longer supports it)

I was just looking at b2evolution (http://b2evolution.net/), which has a Swedish language pack, but I don't know if it's any easier to use than WP.
I mostly agree with JPDeni re: Wordpress being your best option...However if it was me I would opt for Modxcms www.modxcms.com ---you need/want a lot more than a blog imo--The kid needs a website and a cms is the way to go and Modx is a Great cms..It is on opensourcecms.com to try out...

You will have to spend some time learning whatever you choose so why not learn a real cms that has no limitations on what your site can look like--The page he has alreadt will work. It would be nice if it was valid xhtml and css.

Finaly wrapped our heads together here and with the tool pointed out ( thank you ken ) Dennis just put up his first bionicle movie he did.
Registerd at youtube and linked Live writer Wordpress and Youtube together and it worked great :)
But the translation of wp is horrid, nothing is located in the same place, so the admin has it's own, the theme has it's own and then top and bottom has it's own language folder.
Will take some time before we can get another more suitable thme for him added there, why cant things be just as easy as SMF and TP ? :D

What kind of code issue are you having?
Don't know if I can be of any help, but I'm willing to try. :)
When you enter any code use the html mode then switch back to the visual editor for text/styling/ etc... ;)

I run a wordpress blog also, I edited it to look like blueskies theme, so it matches the forum (see my sig) and I did put Blocs name at the bottom ???
Believe it or not, he have made most of the content himself now, i tried to get a galley addon to work for WP, but i gave up, and he sat down, klick klick and ther it was :P
So he is in a go for launch, collection a lot of images he wants to put up, he is working on a new slideshow but for his records on Xbox360 sp stay yuned for hs creations, im amazed how he manage to fix it when he cant even read English :o
