Title: Having issues with front panel displaying AFTER content
Post by: helphook on March 30, 2009, 11:14:18 PM
hey guys I can get my front panel to show up just fine

However I recently decided to put articles on my front page, they show just fine with the front panel if the option display front panel BEFORE content is selected

the issue is is when I choose the option to display the front panel AFTER the content

then the front panel just completely disapears, any ideas?

Does it do this in the default theme also?

Well please try, to ensure it is not a theme issue.

When ever you have a error issue it is best to see if the error exist in the default theme also. That helps in troubleshooting the issue.

helphook,

This is probably related to a bug that has already been reported for beta 3 and fixed for beta 4.  According to Mr. Bloc, "Wrong logic in frontpanel display routine.Fixed for TP v1.0 beta 4".  A search would have given you this bug report ---> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,28785.msg229564.html#msg229564

That fix didn't do anything but make matters worst, when I put that fix in it made it so my front panel wasn't showing before or after content with articles up
So I put my template file back to the default

I read over that post and it seems that the person was having a slightly different issue than me

I also changed my theme to default, it didn't help, still the same issue

I'm guessing I may have to wait for beta 4?

OK, then you may have found another bug so let's start over, shall we?

On your TP FrontPage settings what do you have set for the following?

1.  What to display on front page:

2.  How frontblocks will be shown:

well right now at this moment its set to show front panel only, and show front panel before content

however what i'm trying to do is show articles only and display front panel AFTER content which is where the issue is

when I select show articles only and front panel BEFORE content, it works fine...

I hope thats the info you're looking for

OK, if this is what you want to do, then put your settings like this ...

1.  What to display on front page: Articles Only
2.  Move your Front Panel Blocks to the Lower Panel and Set them to Show on the Front Page Only
3.  Hide Front Panel unless otherwise Selected
4.  Display Lower Panel on Front Page

Let us know if this works.

I had this exact problem

the link to the fix going into the next release of TP (earlier in thread) wasn't the issue but it put me on to where to look to sort this out

So I made an additional (and very similar) change, so I do not need the workaround suggested

in TPortal.template.php at line 280
change this

// are frontblocks shown at the end?
if($context['TPortal']['front_type']=='frontblock' && ($context['TPortal']['frontblock_type']=='last' && isset($context['TPortal']['is_frontpage']) && $context['TPortal']['is_frontpage']==true))

to this...

// are frontblocks shown at the end?
if($context['TPortal']['front_type']=='frontblock' || ($context['TPortal']['frontblock_type']=='last' && isset($context['TPortal']['is_frontpage']) && $context['TPortal']['is_frontpage']==true))
