Question: What do you think of it?
We had the new dropdown menu for the new site-theme in effect for quite some time now and I am curious about what people think of it.
Is it easier or worse to use than your normal straight-down dropdown menu?
well i voted ok (may as well say it as i'm the only vote so far).
it is ok... a little unusual which is nice and intuitive enough not to cause a problem.
quite nice that it doesnt encroach on the page content like a vertical one might do,.
i don't really use the menu a great deal, aside from getting to my profile info.
I like straight drop menus.. But, for a site which has Flash content under the menu a YouTube vid, Flash advert.. etc. The Flash content will often be "always on top" of the menu, so half the menu gets hidden behind. An option like your menu would be useful for these sites.
I don't really like it, but who cares ;) I also don't like scrolling things on my screen.
I like the menu over all, but it's to sensitive, it reacts directly if you accidently move the mose the slightest out of any "box" if there were some way to make it react a bit slower, i would have given my vote to best ever..
Is it javascript or just css? I like it a lot. I use a css vertical menu on my site and this might be a way to change things a little bit.
I like drop style menus because it gives the ability to have lots of links available without the clutter caused if they were to be visible all of the time.
The menu is just CSS driven, no javascript. And thats why its a bit sensitive. Especially since you move over diagonally as well as vertically and horisintally..thats the only gripe i have about it, a vertical menu means you always move straight down.
But it may be possible to enhance it a bit by javascript.
I like the css, myself. I know there are some members of my site that don't have javascript available to them, which is why I used css.
It really is awesome. I like it a lot!
And in my "general opinion" a menu / navigation on a website can make a huge difference, so it really matters a lot.
I like it to, took some time to get used to it jumping to fast, but yes its real nice, now where do I get a copy ;)
Love it! I don't mind how sensitive it is really. I like how it saves space.
I think it is nice...I like how you can have many links and it doesn't take up much space

Me thinks its good, and doesn't take up screen real estate... :coolsmiley:
i liked it but it has some empty spaces. it looked like that when using this menu, all your links should be in even numbers.. i still liked it anyway
Can't think of any menu that saves more space or screen real estate than a drop menu, regardless of how it's laid out. It hides anyway.. Well, maybe a drop menu with sub menus. ;)
For Flash content on a site, it would work great as I've found most drop menus hide behind Flash.
I love the new menu but it doesent work correctly with the new internet explorer 8. It draws the menu items in a single line to the far left and there unreachable.
I normally use firefox so its not a prob for me I just thought I would toss my two cents in :)
It does? I also test in IE8 and it shows perfectly...what version of IE8 do you have?
I love it, really easy for me to navigate the site fast as possible ..... can't beat it in Fact!

Just tried it on another one of my computers just in case it might have been this one but its the same with both. I just downloaded it from

ya It pretty much does...
Heres a screen shot of what mine is doing.
Have you tried the different site (width's) with IE8 ?
Top Left --
yep the menu is still lined up to far to the left to reach. ie 8 comes with a compatibility mode but the menu still stay's to the far left even when its enabled. I think Ill stick with fire fox :)
Good call jez ... or Opera it's cool

Works for me on IE8 as well. Just downloaded and installed IE8 yesterday.
Might there be a setting or maybe different version of IE8 for the U.S. or something? Ill try to download it to my lap top and see if I get the same thing on that as well..
I doubt it. I'm in the US and Bloc is Europe.
Works in my IE8 to
ok I dont get it. Both of my computers at work have the same problem with the menu's after downloading IE8. Both computers have xp pro on them. I downloaded IE8 on my laptop awith xp home and it works fine.
lol, that is very strange.... I really don't know what to tell you mate. haha
I know whats happening, though I can't do anything about it lol. :)
The menu you see, is actually the menu that shows when IE6 is detected, but even there it isn't quite right, IE6 shows the menu right under each item last I looked.
So it would seem your IE8's actually identify themselves as IE6 for some reason.
hmm odd... My work computers are older and probably come with IE6 originally but have all the current updates. oh well. thanks for looking into it : )
Looks as if Rocket Theme's has added one ( similar to BZ29 ) ... but Bloc's is much better to me ..

Enable Compatibility mode if you are running IE8.

ya I tried that as well... Thanks though :)
I cannot duplicate it, so it must be some differences in versions for IE8 - or windows versions perhaps. Running IE8 v7.055 (yeah, strange lol) on Windows XP service pack 3.
hm, my IE version is prob. the native IE7 that is active. I got IE6,IE7 and IE8 installed, but IE8 and IE6 as "extra".
Maybe thats why I can't duplicate it.
I cant see anything wron eather, have Vista in Kevins laptop and XP in this one, tested all through and it doesent look any diffrent in any of the browsers
