Hi there.
I'm quite new to TinyPortal (as in 3 days knowledge).
I have installed TinyPortal v1.0 beta 3 and have set up a lot of stuff. Everything seems to be working great.
But I have an issue: I have a member group called "Writers" and gave them permissions to create/edit articles. Where do they do this?
As admin I can see my own articles in my profile and I can click the edit link next to each article, but I can't create a new article from there.
You have to create a usersblock for them, all tools from them will be located in that block
Thx, is it a block already created, or do I have to make one on my own?
You have to make a block ( itäs in the list when you choose what blocks you want )
Ok, but do I have to create a custom block, or is there already a pre-defined block that do the trick?
There's a predefined block. It's called "User info/guest login".
This doesn't give the right permissions. I basically just wants "writers" to be able to create/edit their own articles. Then a moderator should aprove them.
Ok, so add permissions for the user groups that you want to be able to submit articles. Then add permissions for the moderator group to be able to manage articles.
I did, but how do I give them the link for doing so. "User info/guest login" only gives them full access which means they are able to edit/delete all articles.
As a member of the team here on TP.net, I have permission to write html and bbc articles. In my user info block are two links:
Submit HTML article
Submit BBC article
The links for them look like this:
http://www.domain.com/index.php?action=tpmod;sa=submitarticle
http://www.domain.com/index.php?action=tpmod;sa=submitarticle;bbc
Either one of those links gives me a form where I can enter an article, but nothing more. I can't edit or delete any other articles.
I would check to be sure that your permissions are correct.
TinyPortal Articles
Submissions are always approved
Can submit HTML articles
Can submit BBC articles
Can edit own articles
Those are the ones you want checked. If you don't want the members of that group to be able to edit or delete other articles, do *not* select
Manage articles
for that group.
