Ok, uploaded 1.1.8 SMF no problem, had to mess around with the write permissions via the package manager but got it up no problem.
Downloaded and instaled TP O.98 , uploaded it to the board, uploaded fine and installed fine but then I hit the problem and I've removed the forum several times and still it persists.
When I put TP on it logs me out, I log in as the admin, it shows me logged in, but I go to admin or even just the forum and it logs me back out and I'm a guest.
Another weird part of this is that I login with the pw and the first time it doesn't allow it, the second time it does and then of course I get logged out when attempting to access the forum.
Any ideas?
This happens in both firefox and explorer
Also, in the Tiny Portal Box to the left there is nothing to show it's installed, there are no links to get anywhere etc and yet it tells me it's installed and I can get to some of the blocks when I maange to log in.
as in
Dutch,
It's hard to tell what the logout issue is all about, but it sounds like you're timeing out. The next time you login try clicking "Always Stay Logged In". Maybe that will solve that part of it.
On the second issue, this topic may help ---> Blank Admin Panel or Text missing? (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=34)
ZarPrime
The blank admin link sorted the blank panel out so to speak.
The login is strange, everytime I boot the forum it logs me in, I go to admin or forum or what and it boots me back out, this happens in both explorer and firefox.
It only appears to do it when loading tp though, up to that point all is well.
Well, as far as I know TP does not do anything with the login/logout functions of SMF. You should probably uninstall TP and make sure your board is working fine without it first.
Actually, the password thing is irritating me, the first time I log it it tells me it's not recognised, the second time and it allows me in.
Problem is I can't stay in so I have to on the server and remove the installation. I've tried several different downloads, still the same.
Could this be a problem with cookies? Maybe your browser is not accepting the cookie from SMF.
Just a thought.. which happened to me, and it's to do with links posted around the site. You follow certain links and you get to a page and it seems you are logged out. Go to another page and you are logged in.
You may have changed this recently.. or it may be something else entirely, but worth checking:
Admin / Features and Options > Basic Features > Search engine friendly URLs
Apache only!
This can mess with URLs.
