Using frontpage blocks are posted twice. So are articles set for frontpage. Also get scrollbars in html blocks, but I found solution by, first post in the BBC block then switching to Javascript. Go figure!!
I don't understand the question.
ZarPrime
me neither... I think she is saying the blocks are doubling posting... Marion, please provide a link to the site so we can have a look.
Right now the sever is down and I have deleted those blocks, and not using frontpage for this. I am using upper, lower and top and bottom panels for this use. Works fine and I figure it is a bug that you need to know about.
I observed the same thing with front page blocks and got around it by just using upper and lower blocks. When I saw this the front page blocks were doubled so that all of them appeared as expected and then when you scrolled down the page they all appeared again. I know this is not much help as I no longer use front page blocks and can't show the problem, but I just wanted to confirm another sighting of this particular critter.
We are going to need more info to try and replicate this. I use frontpage blocks on 2 different sites with no issues...
Please Marian see this: and provide the info --> Please read the Posting Guidelines.html (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,581)
I can't give you any more than that, on two different times, blocks I created for fontpage doubled. One was a site pal bot, one was an article block. I came here looking for a solution and found no reverence to this problem. So, I just deleted both blocks and do not use the frontpage at all.
I created my article, then I created a article block for frontpage, and chose my article and it appeared twice. With the Site Pal block, I entered the iframe code and the url for the bot and it appeared twice.
Here is the code I used for the Site Pal. That is a non-working url, by the way.
<center><iframe id="datamain" src="http://www.pandorabots.com/pandora/talk-oddcast?botid=a6e1941a0e375342 " width=550 height=675 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 hspace=0 vspace=0 frameborder=0 scrolling=no></iframe>

Marian,
I'm not sure what you did, but if you had an article that was set to show on the Front Page and a single Article Front Page block also, they are both going to show if you have set your Front page settings to display both Front Page Blocks and Articles. The obvious choice is to select to show either Articles or Front Page Blocks, but not both.
If you replicate this again, please let us know exactly what you have done before you delete the blocks, so that we can have a look and sort out an answer to this.
ZarPrime
That might be what happened and I thought the same thing, so I went and removed the choice to show on front page and both disappeared. Most times this is an accident and we aren't sure how we did it or how to correct it short of deleting it. :idiot2:
Yeah, at least starting over gets us back to square one. :2funny:

;)
Has this been sorted or is this still being worked?
RG,
I'm not sure. I don't think Marian knows for sure what she did to get this behavior. I left it open in case she wants to try to replicate it, but I'm not sure.

Hi guys
It's been a while since I've been around but I figured since I had let my site get so for behind on updates to smf, I'd take a shot at updating my tp while I was doing the smf updates.
I ran into the double articles also. This what I did...
To get you up to speed as to where I'm at, let me start from the beginning. I was at smf 1.1.3 I did all the updates 1 by 1 upto 1.1.8 however updating to 1.1.8 uninstalled all my mods. TP included. So I decided if I had to reinstall I'd update to the 1.0 version of TP.
Now the install when with no errors or any problems. My previous articles were still on my server and the new version picked them up. Displayed them in the correct order and all. But! it also added a duplic of each one (basicly a second frontpage). The blocks had scrolling functions added and the top ones do scroll, however the duplicate ones do not. (not that I would want them to. just that may be useful info)
I'm going to leave as it is for today if anyone wants to see...

I only see maintenance mode on your site.
ooops sorry I will open it up now
Does it show duplicate articles in your tp_articles table in your database?
No it doesn't
Are the articles set to show on the frontpage and are they in a Frontpage block?

Yes they are.
Advise,
Do you mind if I take a look inside your site? If that would be OK, setup a temp Admin account and PM me the username and password, and I'll take a look at it. Don't post the username and password here, just PM me.

I am thinking this is the problem. If you have set the article to show on the frontpage and then put it in a frontpage block, which is unnecessary, then that might account for the double posting.
Let's see what Zar finds out when he checks your site.
I'll set up the account and send you the info.

Thanks Guys,
Sent to both
I'll wait for you two too look before I mess with the block settings
OK issue/problem found.
If you have the Frontpage set as follows:
What to display on frontpage: Frontpanel
How frontpanel will be shown with content: Frontpanel will be added after content
Then the Frontpage Blocks get doubled. I verified this on one of my test sites that was fresh everything with no mods installed.
See attached pic also...
My recommendation for now is set the following:
How frontpanel will be shown with content: Frontpanel will be added before content or Hide frontpanel, unless otherwise selected.
and the issue is gone.
I have set AdviseorAnswers.com forum to: Frontpanel will be added before content[/u and it has fixed your front page.
AWESOME! And thank you for all your help.
Yeah, thanks.
Renegd,
Thanks for solving the issue before I had a chance to look. ;)
I will mark this solved.
ZP
I will post this to the bugtracker..
Glad to help.. Glad we got sorted out... I'm sure Bloc will fix it right up...
Yes, this is now fixed for beta 4. It was some of the logic that gave wrong output, making the frontblocks show twice in certain setups.
