Title: Help in putting up a website with SMF and TP installed.
Post by: abbyh on February 28, 2009, 01:58:26 AM
I would like to make a language forums which aims as fun while learning forum for both japanese and english language. I had recently made one myself but for 2 to 3 times, I keep messing it up, I can't get some mods to work on my site and can't make the portal page look as what I want it. I am thinking of starting again from scratch  :'( since I still hadn't showed it to production.

This is my website that I made....and messed   http://evvywebpages.com/nlelp/index.php

Hope somebody would reply.

What is supposed to be wrong with the site?

I see you did not use the frame where you have the links in the middle of the main page. I see you need to add a Forum button.

The Phobos theme has support for TP so if you go to Admin --> Current Theme and go down the page, you should see a box to click for TinyPortal support.  That should put the Forum button up on your pages.

:) Oh, thank you for your support. This has helped me to stick with my forum and not to delete it. Great help with the Admin>Current Theme Options. But as for the portal Page I still don't know how to figure it out like putting frames on the middle/front panels.  I also can't make the HTML Blocks active. Every blocks I add doesn't make the active buttons green.

I include a screen shot on my Panels and Blocks admin page.

You have to click on the red buttons to make them green and then go down and click save.

You don't have to click save, as the ajax should change everything needed. Which is why the image changes from red/green and vice versa.

Hi,

I tried clicking the red button, (which hovered 'activate') but still don't change to green.

As far as putting the frame on the block. When you edit the block you will see and area that allows you to edit the following prperties:

Use frame from theme
Use frame, but not title
Use just the title
Do not use title/frame

Just select the look you are wanting. For the center top area you have now, I would use the first choice.

I changed my forum theme and I've made the red buttons turned to green. But I still didn't see these set-up active on the front page. Later when I checked on the TP Panel, the green buttons turned red again. I again activated it, and I see someof the blocks visible on the front page(so happy~) but not the HTML/BBC type blocks. I think I need to get more education on HTMLs.

Renegd98, found it from the frame options, now set to 'Use frame from theme', thank you.

Thank you everybody for the replies.  :-*
