I successfully uploaded Tiny Portal to my site. I hit the "Apply Mod" button to activate it. It runs through everything and says "Test succesful!", so I hit the "Install Now" button. It tries to install it (I guess), but returns
"500 Internal Server Error - The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log. "
I check the log and I don't see anything there... ...am I doing something wrong?
If you are on shared hosting service, you can run into these kind of problems during the install.
What you can do now s to check that the install went through, and if not, manually add the files/folders and code according to these guides we have made for these kind of issues.
Read them, follow them, and you will end up a happy camper :)
How do I manually install TinyPortal (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=29)
Modification Instructions (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=140)
Okay, I followed all the instructions for a manual installation, and now this when I visit the index:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function TP_article_categories() in /hermes/bosweb/web237/b2379/sl.supertru/public_html/mygb/Sources/TPortal.php on line 200
I screwed up somewhere?
What's the easiest way to get back to zero, delete everything and reinstall SMF? I don't have any users yet so it's not that big of a deal, just a few posts I made, but I can always copy and paste the few that I have...
Could the original problem be due to a file permissions setting? It is a shared host by the way, StartLogic to be specific.
Thanks for your help, I'd really like to be able to get this thing to work, as it's just what I'm looking for!
Oh, the reason for asking if I should just start from scratch is that I didn't back anything up.... not sure how...., but like I said, a complete reinstall isn't that big of deal, just a little time consuming...
Your best bet IMHO is probably a reinstall ... Delete the directory, delete the database and then start from scratch...
Install SMF
Instal TP from the package manager then go thru the manual install instructions making any additions/changes required.
Okay, I'll do a reinstall and start from scratch. I did install a crap load of MODS to get the experience and effect that I'm looking for, so there is always a possibility that one of them conflicted with TinyPortal preventing it from installing correctly. In any case, I'll reinstall and then install TinyPortal first, I'll report back here my experience.
