Title: Interesting problem that affects ALL TP sites
Post by: Techdomain on February 20, 2009, 11:32:17 AM
I think....

Ok. If I go to my profile, and switch off the quick reply box in my look and layout preferences (actually switch it off, and not just hide it) and then in a thread press the "Quote" button, the left column does not display, and the reply box fills the whole screen width.

Whilst this doesnt affect a site like TP itself much in that it has a plain background to the body, it causes a problem for my site at http://www.techdomain.com.au/index.php which has a colour strip seperating the column and the body of the forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Confirmed.  If quick reply is off and you use quote the left column gets turned off. If you use reply the left column does not get turned off.

So you want the quote to work that same as the reply, which is probably not a bad idea. I have also noticed if you use quote and the quick reply box is ont eh quote then goes to the quick reply box. If you then use preview you get the same as if the quote box is off. The left column closes. Not sure if this is by design or not.

yeah, its one of those things that although it doesnt affect the functionality of the site, it does make things look wrong when it happens. If anyone can come up with a solution that would be awesome!

Its not by design, no. This is a bug that should be corrected for the next update.

Ah ok, thanks for the reply Bloc. In the meantime I added it to the bugtracker, as I couldnt find a reference to it. Feel free to delete it as appropriate!

Cheers, JRW.
