Title: Can't set block position
Post by: forummaker on February 02, 2009, 01:14:36 AM
After searching for an answer. (I really did search). Nothing even close to an answer to this.
I have tried several times to move a left block up one position, or even move another block to a lower position.
I've deleted the block, added the block, changed the numbers, used the up/down arrows and for some reason it won't move from the position.
I've attached an image to help. I want to move the block that is in position 160 to 150 and 150 to 160. I've had this same problem in other forums that I manage, but I've always seemed to work through it. Any help with this would be great.

Change the number 150 for calendar to 165 and go down and click save.  If that doesn't work, do a hard refresh in that page (ctrl-F5) and try it again.  Let us know if that fixed it.

Here is the most recent error. There are others, but this is the only one that doesn't make sense to me. (as if any of them would make sense to me anyhow). Thanks

 >:( Now I'm getting very frustrated! (I know everyone cares :'() Well for some reason my left blocks will not move when I change the number position or click the up or down arrow, this is from the admin area in panels and blocks. Thanks for any suggestions for a fix, I really have just about tried everything. ie. deleted blocks then made a new one with a different name, enabled and disabled them, changed numbers, clicked the arrows..... then sometimes two or three will move up or down the list after just changing only one of their positions. Thanks again.
Oh, and now one of the blocks that I just created is not even showing up. :knuppel2:
So ya know, I have 21 left blocks.
note: I pm'd g6 with no response.

A bit hard to move those blocks when you only have blocks to number 140 in your left panel :P

I know, I've deleted some of the blocks to see if having 21 left blocks was creating the problem. It seems it is the problem. I reduced the number of left blocks to 15, and now I can move the blocks where I want them. When I had 21 left blocks It would not allow me to move a block where I wanted to.

When you had all these blocks online, i still didnt have any problems moving them around, i tried everything with no issues what so ever  :)

Have to say.. I have hundreds, literally, of blocks.. most unused.
I have in the past had problems moving blocks around.. no problem moving them, but they often wouldn't play.. I think it was the amount of blocks I had/have.

lol, personally.. I need to go through all blocks and articles because theres a lot of crap junk laying there.

ARRR!!! Here it goes again.
When I have more than 15 left or right blocks I can't move them up or down the list and set them exactly where I want them, in the order I want them in.  >:( Any way to fix this once and for all? Thanks anyone...

Thanks G6, I know you helped me before with this, but I'm telling you it isn't working  :buck2: If you'd like to give it another go at it, I'll tell you what to try and see if you can get it to work...

forummaker,

None of us here can seem to duplicate the problems you have.  On a site with 1.05 beta 1, the same you have, I have 42 left panel blocks.  I can move any of them to another position with no problems.  I have no idea why you might be having these problems.

Have a look at this topic and do what worked for that person and see if that works for you. --> http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,26174.msg209525.html#msg209525

If it doesn't work, then I might as well have a look at it just like G6 did, but I doubt that I will have any problems with moving them either.  Setup a temp Admin account and PM me with the details only after you have tried the solutions in the topic above.

forummaker,

The problem with switching your blocks around at the bottom of the right panel has to do with bad code in one or more of your right panel blocks.  It could be any of them, but moving some of the blocks into the lower panel allowed me to switch the blocks around without any problems.  You need to look at all these blocks, especially the last 6 or 7 blocks on the bottom and see which ones have the bad code.  Once you find those and correct them you will be able to move your blocks around the way you want to.

Thanks for looking at it. But it also does it in the left blocks as well. Like I said everything works fine until I add over 15 blocks, then I start having problems moving them around. I don't have that many upper, lower, top..etc. blocks, but I'm guessing I would have the same issue once I add over 15 blocks to those as well..... hmmm. Not sure what to do now.

Nobody else has this problem unless there is a code problem in one or more of the blocks.

With this many blocks, it will be difficult to track down the source of the problem, but the problems you are having are classic examples of some errant code somewhere in one or more blocks.

You have a lot of blocks with code that comes from other locations.  The problem could be in any one or more of them.  There are multiple people here who have a lot more blocks than you do, with no problems whatsoever.

I'm sorry that I couldn't help further on this.

I can take a look. Not sure I'll find anything you couldn't though.

Has anybody been able to move the blocks? I skimmed through the topic again and thought I saw that G6 had?

Yeah, G6 and I have both looked at it.  You can move the blocks around a litle but some of them won't move correctly.

I'll send you the PM.

The site is generating a few errors, here's one generated by G6's user temporary admin profile, since I cleared the log:

http://example.com/forums/index.php?action=tpadmin
Apply Filter: Only show the errors with the same message
8: Undefined index: articletype
File: /home/content/j/u/m/j***********/html/pickleballcoach/forums/Sources/TPortalAdmin.php
Line: 1121

Several others created by Visitors and other members. The Admin account named G6 is the one that might be of interest as that was generated while in the admin panel.

Well, I'm drawing the same results as the rest of you. I can move top and bottom blocks around.. ok. Right and Left are not playing "ball", scuse the pun.

What does this mod do: 19.     Google Tagged?

I'm wondering if it's TP or another mod conflicting with it.
