I am looking for someone to upgrade my site to latest stable versions of SMF and TP.
Currently it has installed SMF 1.1.4 and TP 0.98 since January of 2008.
I am willing to pay someone to upgrade it for me without loosing any data (forum posts, articles, links, files, etc).
If you don't have any other mods installed, I'd be willing to do it. However, you may want to hold out for just a bit longer. TP1 beta3 is getting close.
No mods are installed. One custom template only (SMF_one_blue if I remember its name correctly).
I cant wait because I face serious server load problem because of the thousand visitors per day.
Please send me pm with your offer.
The offer is open for other people interested as well.
You need to be a little more patient, I would help, but I'm tied up with another site right now.
When IchBin, or another Team member gets a chance, they will help.
I don't suggest offering everybody access to your site, it's an unwritten policy.
Ok whenever and whoever is ready, send me email or pm and we can talk about it.
I would take it, but when i read the topic i assumed IchBin said he would, and you both agreed on waiting for the newxt Beta of tp before upgrading.
But if you cant wait, then send me a PM and i will upgrade it for you to night.

My host advised me to upgrade to the latest softwares versions. Doesnt it have to do with the performance? Isnt it optimised?
TP has always been optimized. The latest versions offer more features and bug fixes. That doesn't mean it will be less overhead on your server though. That can depend on a lot of things. Like what kind of Blocks and block codes you are using. How much people use the shoutbox etc. There are a lot of factors in this.

www.pde.gr is the site
Shoutbox is not too crowd but I dont mind if it needs to be disabled. Is it too heavy for the server?
Is the TinyPortal copyright included anywhere?
So far I'm not seeing it. :)

I never remove the copyrights. As you can see there is the copyright to SMF. I dont know why the Tiny Portal copyright is not visible.
Probably because you have a custom theme and the one who made it didnt add it in the index.template.php file.
This seems reasonable. In the update, we will add it.
You definitely need to update your forum. TinyPortal is still OK at TP 0.9.8 if you want to wait for the next beta version. However, I guess a few questions should be asked. What is your hosting plan currently? How much space and bandwidth do you get? Are you on a shared hosting account? Your site looks busy enough that it may require a bigger plan IMO.

I have dedicated server, maybe the best hardware that can be. (Intel Clovertown technology with 8 CPUs, 8 GB RAM, 10k SAS HDs, etc...)
The fact is that I host another busy forum in the server but it doesnt cause any problem. Only www.pde.gr causes problems.
You can upgrade to SMF 1.1.7 in steps with patches from admin panel. TP and in most cases mods are not usually affected this way.
TP upgrade to 1.0 is a major upgrade, I see customization in your site. For large sites it should be better to wait for a more stable and debugged version of TP 1.0 and do a major general upgrade reinstalling mods.
I can't switch language or theme in your site, TP copyright could be omitted by a mistake in theme customization. It has to be there.
BTW in Greek SMF support board (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=78.0) there is also TP support in Greek.
When was the last time you carried out SMF Forum Maintenance? Optimise the tables sometimes helps, you may have already done this.
I have done optimisation and db repair recently. Yes it helps a bit.
agridoc, I will follow your advice, that means to upgrade only SMF.
Does TP 0.98 collaborates with SMF 1.1.7?
Yes, it most definitely does! Need any help, let us know. If you do the update right from the admin panel, there "shouldn't" be any need to uninstall any mods or anything.
Should I change the template to default before doing the upgrade?
Wouldn't hurt to do that.
-Don't forget to put it in maintenance mode too. :)
Thank you all! If I mess it up, I will ask for your paid help.
I did the upgrade of SMF to 1.1.8
I will be waiting for the Greek translation for the new version of TP.
Thank you very much!
