Title: TP 1.0.5 beta 1 - Missing 'use intro' option when creating new article
Post by: Lum-chan on January 27, 2009, 03:48:13 PM
Currently I'm using SMF 1.1.7 with TP 1.0.5 beta1.
Recently I moved all to a new hosting provider.
Everything works Ok but when I try to add a new article, it shows up in the list but when I try to previes the newly created article it gives me this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /mnt/web7/50/55/51962555/htdocs/forum/Sources/Load.php(1760) : eval()'d code(1331) : eval()'d code on line 1

Accessing the article directly gives the same error message.

The Error message above may change whenever I change options on that specific article.
Already existing articles work fine, even after editing it. These articles DO have the option 'Use Intro' and work just fine. No errors at all.

SMF 1.1.7 is using UTF-8 encoding (???)

Only newly created articles create this error mentioned above and the option 'Use Intro' is missing.
Other options don't show errors when applied of displayed.
I can't find a way to correct this. I can't post new articles anymore. Only existing articles are working ok.

It seems to look for something and it's not finding it at all...

What can I do to get this working ok again?

Thanks in advance

What kind of article are you making?

A php article does not include an intro and will generate the kind of error that you have listed.

If you intend to make an html article, check to be sure that you're creating the right kind.

If you intend to make a php article, it's likely that you have included

<?php

at the beginning and

>

at the end. Remove those and your code should work, assuming the rest of the code is correct.

Thank you very much. I planned to make an html article, but I did choose php. That's what was creating this error. I feel so dumb!

Thanks for explaining this rather important how and why. I totally forgot about this.

Thanks again  :up:

I'm glad to help. :)

It's easy to mis-read things. I do it all the time. I'm just glad we got it sorted.

I'll mark this solved.
