Here is the first issue that I'm having.
I'm trying to get .swf file to appear and I've tried the HTML and SCRIPT option, but it wouldn't work.

SMF 1.1.7
TP 0.9.8 < Wasn't sure which version to use.
I've just started this project today.
You cant open an SWF ( Flash ) with a script or HTML, you need to embed the script in a PHP block
Also you need to have the swf file uploaded somewhere on the server for the script to fetch
Also you code seem to miss out on the first <EMBED>
There are several diffrent snippets in out block code and snippets board you can check out, if you look at the sticky topics, you have a list of most snippets in that board.
You can embed a flash file using a scriptbox G6. That code should work, as fas as I can tell.
The OBJECT is for IE and the EMBED is for FireFox. I do have the .SWF on the server. The problem is the block keep displaying the entire codings as text.
I think I saw a 'Embed Flash" button on an editor button for article. I'll see if I can find that editor button.
Well, I brought up the HTML + BBC option and there was the editor options in the Body text area, but the Flash insert button option isn't available like it is for the editor in Article.
I'll look at Snipplets and see if I can find something to make this flash file appear.
I got it! I dunno how, but I switched back to scriptbox and somehow it is appearing now.
Is it safe to keep the version I'm using right now or upgrade to 1.0.5 or 1.0.6?
I think you will be hapier using TP V098 at the moment, the other 2 versions are very buggy, so stay with the one you have until the next release of tp
Alright.

There is no option to not allow collaspible buttons to appear at the top where the the following is:

Okay. I'll do that. Keep in mind, the site isn't near completion. lol

TP 0.9.8
Theme xBox 360 Elite
No mods are installed until everything is set up. I only have TP installed.
I think the theme version is dated back when metalcore last appeared.
It was just perfect. I didn't do anything to alter a change. All I did was going to Block Manager and the whole thing got messed up.
Im not following you right now.
Xbox360 elite them ? I see another theme there i think. a black theme, but nothing like the 360elite though.
And messed up ? I juist looked at it, and it seem to be ok to ???
Ah, see you have xbox theme for the forum , but some other theme for the frontpage
The collapse buttons, did you want them emoved, or show, but in some other place ?
I fixed the mess. Sometime the index.template would disappear or whatever it does and I have to reupload, hence is why I keep downloading a copy of it to Desktop after each change just in case.
For the forum, I am using the xBox 360 Elite theme. That is the only theme I am using. It is the same thing for the TP.
I am wanting the collaspe buttons completely removed. I did try that in index.template, but it was a disaster. Maybe I removed a bit too much, I dunno.
I have to say, without getting involved, because I have no idea whats going on... If you need help, you really need to help the team here. You need to be as descriptive as you can be, we don't have mind readers, we cannot guess what you've done, what you've tried, what worked and what didn't.
Before editing any file, especially if you are unfamiliar with making these changes, save a copy of the original. If it doesn't work the first time, go back.. look at what you are editing. Every single little change can have a huge impact, and if you don't expect it..

Is it possible to add a background image to the article that is currently up there?
On the forms you had up here before you edited your last message, there's no reason why these won't work in a script block in the left panel just like you have on the root site. However, if you either don't style them in the block or in the style.css for the theme they probably won't look right.
On the collapse buttons, this has been asked many times before here. Try doing a search on "remove upshrink" and see what you can find.
Make sure to make a backup of your file and then comment out the parts where the upshrinks are located.
Finally, a background image for an article. Hmmm, don't know, never tried to do that. Have you tried it yet?
ZarPrime
You've sure got a lot of issues in one topic!
For your background image, use a div tag and css just like you'd use in a .css file. Lots and lots of info on css syntax all over the internet.
Thanks for jumping in there JP. I wasn't sure about the background image but I figured this could be done with a div. It'd probably even work with an external page, but like I said, I've never tried anything like that.
ZP
I think at this time, your better off asking the theme creator about the theme edits. He know the theme inside out and what code to change and where to chage it. :up:
I was able to get the forms to appear by using Article and having Block call on it.
I've decided to change the way the Menu is, so I have it up there in Center Block.
The problem is that the width shoots to the right when the actual file is not that wide. I highlighted the area and confirmed that the file size is actually right. Something is making the center so wide.
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="540" height="180">

Thanks on the DIV background option. I'll look that up and find the best one. I plan to have a background logo under the flash menu. There's a space under it, because of the dropdown sub menu. That will be where I'll be putting a background logo. First, I just need to get the center to behave. lol
As for the forms, right now on the left side, the forms is saved as Article and the Block is calling on it. Right now, as Admin, I'm seeing under each of those box is:
[Edit article] [Edit options]
I spent a few hours trying to find the option to turn it off. All displays for the block and article is turned off, except for those two links. Regular members don't see it, but annoys me.
Have anyone on here heard from metalcore lately?
The Size seem to be set in the code you posted
width="540" height="180">
In TP V098 the options you cant turn the edit links option off.
Metalcore, havent seen him for quite some time
So the TP is reading the flash width as for the center width?
I removed it. Now the flash file is so tiny. Look at the massive space to the right of the file.
Laborate with the width and hight setting in that code until it looks the way you want :)
I'm trying. I even moved a previous Block to the center that was perfect when it was in the Left Block, but is not now in the Center Block, because of the massive space. Something is causing a massive space to the right of the file.
How soon will the 1.0.5 or 1.0.6 be stable? I would like to try those to see if there is more flexible options.
I just downloaded FireFox (new comp) and I see the center shows correctly. It's an IE issue. Why can't we just have one browser or at least them all work the same way. lol

That question is asked by us to a lot of times.
Okay, I dared myself to try this, but again hit a steel wall.

Remember that introduction I had up there? I still want that up there, as well as the Weekly Stats. Here what I had tried.
I noticed something in the Admin > Tiny Portal > Settings > Front Page
Only forum-posts
Forum-posts and articles - sorted on date
Only articles
Featured article and front page blocks
Front page blocks
Go directly to forum index
(Options on what to show.)
Featured article and front page blocks is what I have selected.
Notice the "article" is not plural.
So, I figured, make categories. I made a category for a featured article and a category for a featured article. That's two featured articles I was hoping to appear.
Well, it doesn't seem to work that way. I have the one up there right now selected as featured, but the other featured is turned off.
Suggestion?
Is it possible to have the title, Weekly Stats, centered?
Quote

No, I do not think you can center the Block Title.
Quotethe forms is saved as Article and the Block is calling on it.
Not a clue what that means.
Quote[Edit article] [Edit options]
Go to Admin > Tiny Portal > Settings
Find
Hide the edit article link under articles? Click "Yes" :)
I just looked at your site and it looks pretty good.
You can only have 1 featured article. Is "Weekly Stats" an article or a block? I can't tell. Whether it's your featured article or a front page block, you can show more than 1 article but you can only have 1 featured article.
To show more than 1 article, instead of choosing "Featured article and front page blocks", choose "Only Articles". If you go into the frontpage settings you will be able to select the layout for the featured article and other articles. Select either A or B for the layout and this will let your featured article be on top and the other article below it. If you have front page blocks they will still show up when using "Only Articles".
ZarPrime
JPDeni, it is already checked at that option. It will hide the links when the Article block is appearing directly, but I believe there is a glitch when a Block calls on an Article (type: onearticle), the links appear. It only appear to Admin, tho.
Thx, ZarPrime. Most of the blocks are calling on an existing Article, since it was the only way that I could find to have it properly displayed as I want it to be.
Weekly Stats is an article, but not featured. I have introduction that is featured. I will turn that on and do your suggestions.
ZarPrime, I just did as you instructed.
http://dream-pool.net/main/index.php
I had to checked the following options:
Left side blocks
Right side blocks
Center-Blocks
Show userinfo/news at the top
Visual options for frontpage.
Under the featured article, there is a linked Pages 1 2 3 4 5 6. I do not want that there. I want that removed. I also want the Weekly Stats to appear under the featured article.
Thunder,
Setup a test acct. and PM me the acct name and password if you want me to take a look at what you've done so far. After we're finished you will be able to delete the acct. You don't need to use a real EMail address to do that. Don't post the info here. PM it to me.
ZarPrime
OK, I put your Welcome Article into a Center Block, set to show in theme frame (you can turn this off it you want so that it has a black background). Weekly Stats is now setup as featured article so that Center Block shows on top of Featured Article. The [Edit article] [Edit options] in the Welcome article block can probably not be turned off in the block but it will only show to you as Admin. Nobody else will see it. Once a new version of TP comes out, there are other ways to do what you want, but I don't recommend an upgrade yet.
Is this about what you are looking for? If not, tell me what else I need to look at. If it's OK, you can delete the test acct. or keep it in case you need further help later, up to you.
ZarPrime
EDIT: You said << Please, If you go into Report Loss Box, Team Jump Box, and Jump Box, please do not click the Source button on the editor. It resets a portion of the codes and strip out a portion if the input tags for the forms. >>
I didn't even look at those, but if you have those in an html block, I suggest you change the block type for those to a script block. That will prevent you accidentally doing what you asked me not to do. That problem with the editor has been fixed for the next version of TP.
Oh, I forgot, you asked me not to put the title on Weekly Stats. OK, let me go in real quick and remove that.
OK, how's that look? ;)
Thanks! I was sleepin, got really tired and slept for so long. This is really tough, kinda like back in school, reading all those textbooks. lol
Got it! Added a center command in the td tags. ;D

As you have seen there is a change. lol
Is it possible to change the block background to be darker grey?
Yes, Crip's theme suits your site nicely.
The block background, let's see ...
... You can change that in the style.css of the theme ...
.windowbg, #preview_body {
background-color:#2F2F2F;
border-left:1px solid #515151;
border-top:1px solid #515151;
color:#E3E3E3;
}The background color is what you would change and you'd have to experiment with it. It's pretty dark already, but if you change this, it will change the background color in other locations on the site as well, like forum posts.
You just have to experiment with that. If you have an addon for FireFox called Firebug, you can make changes like this while the page is up without it actually saving the changes so that you can see what making the changes will look like.

Hi,
When I put codes in all those blocks, it is best to have CSS instructions on the style.css page instead of individual codes in the blocks?
In what order is best to place CSS instructions for the blocks on the style.css page?
I'm fixing some things after some people shown me their screenshot with fonts so large. I gotta force their font sizes down. lol
If you're going to set up a style to be used in multiple blocks, put it in the .css file. That way, if you decide to change it, you only have to change it once for all of them. If it's a specific thing for one block, use inline styles within the block.
Order doesn't matter a whole lot in the .css file. If you have a problem, that seems to be related to position, move it. (I'm a real fan of trial-and-error. :) )
Okay, I'll try the inline styles to be safe. Thx for ur response!
Which do you think is the most common font types used?
Lets say for example...
Visiter X have the Times New Roman font, but in their Internet Settings the font selected for webpage is Verdana.
When I instruct a block to display the font as Times New Roman, will that make Vistor X see the Times New Roman font (they have this installed) or their Internet Settings take over?
You can set multiple font faces. Take a look at font-family. If a user doesn't have one, then the next font face gets used.
Yup, I got several fonts included.

I did. The text got smaller, still same font size, but gotten smaller (I changed the px to make it bigger.). There is still space before and after.
Go with a Bigger: : font-family: impact, verdana, century gothic, georgia, sherif, lucida grande; ----- also use 12pt; instead of 12px; & try : letter-spacing: -1px;
Crip, I know. I got the font sorted the way I wanted. There is still the space issue at top and bottom of block.
Have you added any HTML code such as <span style="valign="top;"> xxxxxxx </span>
In the block, select "Do not use title/frame". That should get rid of the space at the top and bottom.
Crip, I will add that and see how that works. If that solves the top, then what about the bottom?
JP, at the time, I wasn't using the title and right now I selected the option you suggested, which it also remove the frame. The space is still there above and below. I'll do what Crip suggested and continue to work on this and hunting on Google.
This is why I had always hated H and P tags, they insert spaces that isn't instructed to be. lol
Then don't use the tags. You don't have to. Use span tags to put your inline css code and br tags to start a new line.
He could use bbc code .. prolly work if it's not PhP Box / block

A:hover {font-family: Helvetica, Georgia, Times, Arial, Times New Roman, Sans-Serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; color: #FFFFFF;}
</style>
The above is the example for links in one block, Members' Backdoor.
The other block with links, but different colors, such as The DP Bible is where I'm running into a problem.
I'll try to be clear. I'm thinking how to describe it.
The following codes...
<style type="text/css">
A:link {font-family: Helvetica, Georgia, Times, Arial, Times New Roman, Sans-Serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; color: #00FF00;}
A:visited {font-family: Helvetica, Georgia, Times, Arial, Times New Roman, Sans-Serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; color: #00FF00;}
A:active {font-family: Helvetica, Georgia, Times, Arial, Times New Roman, Sans-Serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; color: #00FF00;}
A:hover {font-family: Helvetica, Georgia, Times, Arial, Times New Roman, Sans-Serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; color: #FFFFFF;}
</style>
I want to use for one block and use the same codes with different color instruction for the other block. The problem is, despite the codes being in their own block, they still tell the links in the other blocks to do the same as one block.
How can I have each links appearing differently from the other blocks? It seem that the codes put into a block also affect other blocks.
