Hiya
I installed tinyportal onto my smf 1.1.7 site.
I decided I didn't want it so I uninstalled it and deleted it. It stills shows up and I don't want it.
How would I get rid of it?
Hi WBA Dude, welcome to TinyPortal.
As noted in you topic on SMF, using the manual install instruction is reverse is one way:
How do I manually install TinyPortal (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=29)
Another way:
If you don't have very many other Mods installed you may want to upload fresh copies of your SMF files... that will also remove any other Mods that you have so they would need to be reinstalled.
If you go this route you'll need to leave out two files from your upload; Settings.php and Settings_bak.php.
If you're not familiar with this method be sure to ask for clarification... and always be sure to do backups before proceeding.
Also, it would help greatly if you follow the directions in this topic so that we are better able to help you.

How do you reinstall the site?
Ken just showed you how to.
If you cant uninstall TP through your package manager, you have to manually go into the SMF files and remove the TP code from them.
The install instruction he posted to holds the code tp adds, you revert that by remove the code instead of adding it.

This is what confuses me
How do I change the codes?
Use your FTP utility to access the files on your server and do the edits.
Maybe this will help:
QuoteDoing a manual uninstall of TinyPortal is easy to do, you just need to follow the directions found in the Manually Remove File Modifications Guide. (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php/topic,146.html)
Take your time and read carefully as you go and it will work well.
Here's how to safely do file edits:
FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/)
One of the better ftp utilities and it's free.
It's the only one I use.
And you'll need a good editor, here is a nice free one:
Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm)
Any time you do anything to your forum there is one thing that you should make part of your routine, like:
Backup... Backup... Backup!
When editing a file I generally do this;
- Make a temp folder on my desktop...
- Open the site with the FileZilla FTP utility...
- Download a copy of the file in question and place it in the temp folder...
- Then download a fresh copy into my editor and edit away...
- Go back to the site and rename the existing online copy of the file to something else, like, old_filename.php...
- Then upload the edited version of the file.
When doing several files I wait until all of them have been edited so that they can all be uploaded at the same time.
If everything is OK then I'm finished.
If its all messed up I just delete the bad file that was uploaded, rename the good one to the correct file name and the forum is back to normal.

i have tried to install allmost every TP in my 1.1.8 forum but still nothing.
i have to go manual, but first i tried to install 0.98tp, when i started to mod files (load, index etc) i see i missing some lines?? ie:
// display user name
and that is not only i miss, there were couple others..
what TP is EASIEST install in manual, and works with 1.1.8? where i get that "tp-version.mod" file what is missing every package??
They are all the same in install, and next time, please start your own topic when you need support.
Hi T_Kiili,
Please start your own topic and follow this guide so that we may be able to help you:

EDIT: Ummm... ya beat me to it G6. :)
Getting old and slow Ken ? ;D
I believe the file you are actually looking for is named tinyportalxxx.mod, where xxx will be a combination of numbers that depict version info.
There will be many of them, as some do more or less than others depending on what needs modified. You want the file version that is the biggest in size and makes the most modifications.
or you can use this link: http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=140 (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=140) to see how to do a manual install.
