When selecting to view a file rather than save it using IE it fails. Both View and Save work fine with Firefox.
So far I have tried PDF and XLS documents with the same result.
The IE version used is 6.0.2900.2180
Can't upgrade IE since it's a corporate imaged machine.
Is there anything I can do with my server or the forum software that will help this?
Some screen shots of the error:

Yes
And the link i posted, did you click it ?
This is going to be some type of settings or problem on the computer you're using or the server your'e on. I do not believe TP is at fault here. I'm able to download in both browsers on all my sites, including this one. Not sure what to tell you at this point.
Sorry I forgot to put my forum versions ;)
SMF version: SMF ver. 1.1.7
TP version: TP ver. 1.0.6 beta 2
Theme name and version: default theme
Mods installed: only TP
Related Error messages: no error messages in the forum error log.
@IchBin
Ok, mostly I was wondering if there was some known issue. I didn't find any mention of a similar problem in searching.
It occurs on for all the users i've asked to test it so far, using corp. imaged pc's from two different companies. I'll have to test on my personal pc and upgrade IE to v7 there to try to narrow down the source of the problem.
Thank you for the helpful reply :)
My personal computer failed with IE 6, though after upgrading to IE 7 it works fine.
Since it seems to be isolated to IE 6 and not a TP issue(?) I'll mark this thread solved.
Thanks again IchBin :)
EDIT: Minor update. Viewing works fine in IE 6 for files attached to a post. So this does seem to happen only in the TP Download Manager section.
Hmmm... I don't have IE6 to test with. Does it happen on this site with IE6 for you?
Yes it does happen here. All the files here are .zip so the behavior is slightly different, but the same for zip files from my forum.
It downloads the whole file, then opens my 7zip file manager to the following folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\ju001bu\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SQL1504Q\
The file that was attempted to download is not there.
With IE7 it opens the downloaded zip file in 7zip. The path is the:
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxx\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4B8HQ3QD\greenlightv1_tp[1].zip\
Are you running any virus scanner or firewalls on your desktop? This can often be the cause as well. Especially the zone alarm firewall. I was able to jump on a co-workers laptop and test IE6 on this site. It doesn't look like I'm having the same problem as you on that browser.
work computers run macafee and windows firewall. or they have symantec antivirus and firewall (depends on which corporate PC i'm on.)
personal computer has zone alarm and avast antivirus. that one is now IE7 and working however. it did have the issue before the upgrade to IE7
