Title: Please Dont Shoot me
Post by: carver on February 13, 2006, 02:54:57 PM
But I was wondering, NOT BEING a programmer how hard it is to develop a module lets say from a post nuke module. I know that SMF has stated many times they are a forum and that is all, which I personally find unfortunate because most of us are looking for more then just the forum, that is why we are here I would think.
Post Nuke has a great number of Handy modules, and having the need for one of them jump out at me today ( the Admin Messages Module ) got me to wondering how hard it would be to convert these pnModules to SMF..
Like I said I am not a programmer, and can now thanks to hanging out with you guys get thru some of this stuff, but that is along way from being where you have to be to really do it..

I would think it would be a pain in the ass. Postnuke is a CMS, and SMF is a forum.

However, using TP will allow you tomake php blocks and articles. That can be very helpful on some of the postnuke modules.

Overall I gave upon postnuke about 3 years ago. For a year they said they were gonna upgrade to v8 and never did. It took another year to update to v750. I later realized people perfer forums over content management anyday. So I wanted to switch back to Yabb, then I heard of SMF. I kept trying to use SMF with a portal software for another year, until TP v75 was developed. I've been using it ever since...
