Title: manually remove block
Post by: Final60 on January 06, 2009, 01:43:32 AM
Hi
I have activated a block containing an error in the php code that is inside the block, which has pushed the body of the forum beyond view, so i cannot get into admin to disable the block again. How can i manually disable the block?
thanks in advance

Can you access phpMyAdmin, such as through a cPanel from your webhost? If so, you can go into there and go look at the table called smf_tp_blocks. Depending on how many blocks you have, you can probably just look down the list and find the title. If you have a whole lot, you can do a search. Click the red X at the beginning of the row. You'll be asked if you're sure you want to delete it. Say you do. All should be fine then.

If you don't have phpMyAdmin available, ask your webhost about how you can directly access your MySQL database. There are other ways of getting to it, but they're usually pretty similar, so you should be able to figure it out.

http://www.yoursite.com/forum/index.php?noblocks;

Adding noblocks to your URL will allow you to browse back to your forum without any blocks showing if you are the admin.

I know, its not a widely known thing I think. I discovered that gem looking at the code in TP one day. :)
