Title: Missing WYSIWYG editors!
Post by: Ibexy on December 04, 2008, 01:43:47 PM
I remember having the option to upload images even when creating blocks. Suddenly, the WYSIWYG feature is gone completely from my articles editor. I may have deleted something. I dont know. I need to get back this feature as I cant upload images to articles or format them as I like again. Please help! Am using TP 097 plus smf 1.1.3

You really should update your TP and SMF. There are some major security exploits fixed in both pieces of software.

That depends probably on a lot of things. Right now, I have no idea what took your editor away. So if it does then great. If not, we'll deal with that when it comes to that.

better is to update, although the update had no WYSIWYG editor in the blocks anymore...   Hopefully it´s back in 1.0.3

Is there any chance of getting the WYSIWYG editor back any time soon?

Not until the next beta release.

Man thanks for the quick response! Glad to see it will be back! I had only straight html to deal with and that can be a real pain to edit blocks for me. Which Beta release are we talking about? I am asking so that I can make sure I get it as soon as it is released.

badping,

Beta 3 will contain the new editor.  Until it's released, you can use an external editor like kompozer to do your html pages locally and then put them into a script block.

I do the best I can but find I dont add or change content simply because its a little more of a PIA with out the editor...not impossible just more difficult, I flunked geometry in school as soon as it started looking like code instead of numbers, LOL.

badping,

I understand what you're saying.  Kompozer is a light weight easy to use open source WYSIWYG Editor that you can install on your computer.  It was only a suggestion that you could use until the next version of TP comes out, which shouldn't be too long.

i had the suggestion to use an html article to write things inclucing images...then click the "source" to have it change to the html coding,

then insert that coding into a html block

my admins that do not know even basic html has been using this to do the blocks they  want and it works very well when i need to insert an image and resize it without having to go to graphics program, resize and upload.

Do your articles have the "html" on as opposed to "BBC". "Html" on in the articles makes editor go away and shows htnl code in the editing box.

well when i was placing images in the blocks i used the add html part of the article then copy pasted to the html/bbc block I created.

I have used it to get the code for any image to place in the blocks...and no problems....yet. see the second link in my signature, the portal is mainly article but in the forum there are several blocks that are done in article then transferred code to the block.

Niow let me say that in the past when I found a misbehaving block--for whatever reason it would do as you say---I would need to just delete it and create a totally new one then it would work right.
