I installed the SMF update, unfortunately for me I had to do that by overwriting all my files because package editor would not let me use that function...lol
After installing the SMF update then doing the TP update I seem not to have the FCKEditor (wysiwyg) function in the blocks that are labeled as html+bbc.
I tried searching the forum but unfortunately the only search function I see ( I can be rather blind so apologies if there is another) does not search anything.
I have reuploaded the FCKeditor files from the TP installer and restarted the browser to see if that was the culprit but still no editor function.
Can someone please tell me what I may not have done or some code that may have gotten eaten that I need to replace?
The editor option was removed during the beta process. It may return. In the mean time, make your block codes in an article or something if you need to, then copy the code over.
in a way thank goodness...I thought I managed to kill it again...lol
However I got spoiled with this feature and hope you bring it back...especially the one that allows us to upload the image we wish to use in the block...into the tp folder...it makes it easier when resizing the image ...click the arrow to get the actual size then enter the new numbers and it automaticlly constraints the other measuremnt
Guys, this needs to be IN! There are so many reasons why! Tiny Portal Mod is probably the best mod to date, and for me one of the most important to my whole site. I use it in several different ways and the blocks are a major part of my site modding. I will gladly make a 100 dollar donation to this site if you guys will release a version with editor for teh blocks working as it should, the way it was. In fact if you said today hey if you want more functionality - sign up for the pro version I would do it. having to go to teh article area to produce the code is like going to the junkyard to find OEM parts, yeah they are accurate but...
Any advice would be appreciated. I know its got to be something with the tp_templateadmin or something similar, I just aint smart enough to figure it out.
I guess it was messing with someother feature and yall left it out for a reason. Hire someone to figure it out and send me the bill... :uglystupid2:
No seriously, I'll help in anyway I can.
The old editor wil not be back in the next release, Bloc is working n another editor option, cant say if it will be there for blocks again though
For our site, where my admins are real newbies to board software...
The best part of the editor is the image inserter feature. They just upload it to the server via that segment then choose the image and it will automatically insert the proper constraints to the image.
For the html coding they just usually copy paste the basic one I have inserted into the admin section of the board for them...they are learning too, yay!
So if you do find a way to incorporate it back into the portal -- for the blocks -- that would be great but getting it to allow the insertion of images with constraint in size option that would be great.
The old editor will not be back as i wrote in my last post.
Bloc is working to implement a new sort of editor, dont know what it is really as we dont have any test version released for the team yet.
But i dont think the editor will be back to support blocks, only articles afaik
Glad I stopped at tp105. LOL
I learned a long time ago. wait, and make sure everything is compatible, before installing upgrades. Can't tell you how many times I installed a new smforum, just to find out, there was NO TP for the version yet. good Luck
It won't hurt your forum at all if you revise to an earlier tp version, that has the editor. imho
I thought of that too but I like the features -- once I got used to the setup -- lol
We adjust and bend like a tree or break and as I said my admins are real newbies. This is easier for them than telling them to go to the article and write it there then copy paste the coding...you would not believe how confusing that sounds to them...I just tell them, since they download the image to their computer anyway, to stick it into photoshop or psp then change the size there and write the numbers for the block.
a weird work around and hoping there will be a feature to do this in the block area later on.
Thanks for all the work you guys do on coding your portal, I know it is not easy or we all could do it.
Wow, really glad to see activity on this subject. Bloc if your listening and its within your power - put it back. Please. :knuppel2:
I will vow to be a true friend. Those are hard to come by nowadays. I will even have dinner with my mother n law. I will pick up my dirty socks, I will attempt a better aim at teh john. I will stop flirting with the baby sitter, I will not make obscene gestures, or laff loudly at inappropriate times. Its that important, but if you cant I will understand. I will continue to live my life in quiet despair - nodding on occasion at the guy collecting change for the salvation army at the store as though we know each other.
LOL. ::)
lol I am listening, but I will not put FCKeditor back. Instead it will be a much simpler editor, more like the Whizzywig(its not that either) with NO built-in image uploader. Its really quick to load, no security issues through 3rd party uploading and a very small footprint in size.
In addition this new editor has an accompaying image upload function from within TP, where it fetches only images yourself uploaded(not everyones) and shows them as small thumbs right below the editor. You can then simply press the image you need to insert into the editor + upload new ones right there in the TP edit screen. It should be a lot easier for both newbies and experts alike.
Going away from a big editor like FCKeditor has a few other advantages as well: all images will be filtered and tagged wih member id, making it easy to filter them out. It also ensures no outside script is used, but rather everything will have to go through SMF/TP.
This editor will be present in both articles, blocks and Download Manager.
very nice Bloc.. and sounds secure too..
lol anticipation :P :2funny:
I wait, with baited breath and learning admins...lol
Sounds to be easier for them that is certain. Is it going to be in the next version of TP and another question...will it --the new TP-- be easy to upgrade to without needing to reinstall all myfiles again?? :coolsmiley:
Yes, in beta3 and yes, it will be easy to upgrade - using the package manager.
yay, thanks again for a great piece of work you guys have created for our use.
Happy Holidays all
Wow, this is great! Are you saying that I can still flirt with the babysitter, aim all crazy at the john and all without being your friend!
Bloc, you are truly one of the top modders out there. I am going to put in a request to double your pay around here.
QuoteI am going to put in a request to double your pay around here.
That would still end up in zero as he does this for the love of it and for free :P
like we all do G6.. yourself, Crip and Fussilet included :D ^-^
