Bloc I would like to start off 1st. by saying THANKS! for the Amber Theme, as I have it set as my Defalt Theme on my Golden Bears Den Forum and I as well as a lot of my members love it.
But my reason for posting this is to show that I have found a small little *.php file that I have implamented into the theme that lets me Rotate the Banner Graphic with what ever I want to. and since my forum is for the Jack Nicklaus PC Golf Game I have chosen golf course scenes.
You can check out what I am talking about with the link below. Just click any thing on the site to change the page or use the
F5 key or the
Refresh button on your browser and see the banner change for you.

I won't try to explain all the things I had to do to set this up and make it work here as it would make too long a post. "BUT" if I get enough responses to this I'll be glad to share the info with anyone wanting to try their hand at setting this up on their Amber Theme as well.
I have this thread set as notify so I'll see each post / reply to this, and if anyone wants to ask questions or wants more posted on this just post here or E-Mail me at:
Webmaster@GoldenBearsDen.com and I'll try to explain what needs to be done to make this happen.
Main thing is I found a free little program called Rotator.php file that is used and here is the Description right out of the *php file :
QuoteABOUT
This PHP script will randomly select an image file from a folder of images on your webserver.
You can then link to it as you would any standard image file and you'll see a random image each time you reload.
When you want to add or remove images from the rotation-pool, just add or remove them from the image rotation folder.
You will also have to do a little editing to you graphics you want to use for rotation, but I'll try to explain all that to anyone wanting to try.
Hope some like the neat little feature and ENJOY! . . . . :coolsmiley:
NOTE :I am not running on the TP on my site as of yet, but We do have a testing copy setup and am playing with that for now till things are a little more stable before we switch the GBD Forums over to the TP, and I have not implamented the Rotator on the Test TP version as of yet either . . . :smiley6600:
Really fun addon, can be used to many fun things a beleave :)
But you as me have that image error in the top in bigger resolution than 1024/768. the image repeate itselfe and the bars dont match up correct.

This is an awesome find Snuffy! It really gives your forum a fresh look. And I love golf course photos. ;) I am sure many folks will want to try this, perhaps a link to download Rotator.php? It may save you some emails.
In IE 6, I had no problems with the images like g6cad. If you have questions about TP, let us know.
Note, I was going to move this to code snippets, but it does not involve TP , yet.
But I am sure it will soon. 8)
Doesent matter if i have IE or FF, or Opera, still show the upper right corner the same way if i have the screen greater that 1024/768.

g6cad I see what you are saying, and never use more than 1024 myself, Old Foggy I guess! :)
But I think that looks like something to do with the sizing of the table coded into the theme that may be causing that to happen,
JUST A GUESS, without looking into things yet . . . 8)
And here is a ZIP copy of the Rotator File, it is just the *.php file so check inside for instructions, as it is rather simple to follow and setup.
The tricky part is setting up your rotating graphics mostly . . . . :idiot2:
I think IchBin are looking into the graph in the topbar for the Amber
Thanks for the rotator file :)
Can that work in a php box to with random images in a left or right block?
I think you are referring to the little side boxes in the amber banner where the ends of the banner are part of the banner pic as well as the frame around the banner overall!?!?!
If that is what you mean yes you could but you would have to setup a folder on the server for each end and let it rotate those ends as well but that don't mean that the rotator will rotate the correct ends for the same main center banner. As you would be running 3 separate copies of the rotator and they are totally random rotations of graphics.
That is why I left the ends alone and just let the main banner pic stop at the edges where those 2 end banner/edges are at.
Also the original Logo.jpg was a size of 1600x102x16mil and I just made mine at 1000x102x16mil, (do to the original size of the pics I used.) And that may also be part why the problem with going over the 1024x768 res. makes it look like you showed above? (Not too sure it would hut just depends on how it is codded in the theme I'm still guessing!?!?!?!
I did a little checking with the Resolutions thingy' and think that why that happens at higher res than 1024x768 is the reason I mentioned above as the overall width of the graphic being displayed.
As if the res goes larger than the actual pic is when it duplicates the pic in the table, as it looks to me like the pic is set in the coding, I am thinking it is set to the background of the table cell as well since the Title of the Forum is displayed over the top of the pic in text like mine say, "Golden Bears Den Community", and then the time and date line is also displayed under that in the Amber Theme.
And if the pic is added in the coding as the Cell background it stands to reason that with the high res setting of the viewer users machine that it would show the cell with a dupe after the pic if the res is longer than the actual pic being displayed. I hope that makes sense but that the best way I can think of to try to explain it right now till I was to really dig into the coding some more . . . . :coolsmiley:
Your explaination makes perfect sense to me. Just may want to post a note on your site for the resolution setting.
Or you might hard code it into the index.template.php, if you know what you're doing.

Well BoB I don't want to mess something up so I'll just let those Youngens with GOOD Eyes that use the larger size have to look at that as is for now! . . . :)
As I am one that always say,
"If it works! DON't FIX IT!" . . . 8)
