Please help me. I installed Tiny Portal 1.0.6 Beta 2, it shows on homepage like normal and my website is fine but when i press on any of the links in admin to access different areas of tiny portal i get:
500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, private@private.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2 Server at www.foreverlastingfriends.com Port 80
I am running SMF 1.1.6, heavily modded, it failed on help.template. which i know the reason for this as i got a new help page mod so not worried about that.
Can someone please tell me why i get this error when trying to access the tiny portal links in admin?

I cannot access the documentation etc on Tiny Portal to look for help as it gives me an error.

One thing we have in there are "please dont bump a post with in 24 hours"
Set your permissions on the settings.php file to 644 and see if it help you ( you need to do this manually through FTP )

I tried that and no luck.
I have tried both tiny portal 1.05 and latest version 1.0.6 and same problem. On my test website it works great on my main website it does not.
Everything the whole site works and tiny portal shows as it should but when i click on tiny portal links in admin i get that error.

The error you say you have indicate us a server settings issue.
Can you contact your host and ask them to check this for you, i had a similar error on my host when they upgraded PHP to 2.0.10
To get passed the error, i needed to set the settings.php and index.php to 644 fo the site to open up.
And if you have your forum in a subfolder and not in your root folder, the forum folder itself needs to be set to atleast 755 or 777
I cant say ot's the same with yours, but ask your host why you have this error and see what they have to say

It is not an host issue as it is working rite now on my test website.
My forum is not in a subfolder and i have changed all the tiny portal files to 755, 777, and 644 with no luck they are the same chmod settings as on test website.

A 500 error indicates some type of permission problem. Whether that be file permissions, or just restrictions placed on your php configuration, we cannot tell. You'll need to compare your test site to your other site to see why its having this problem. There is not much we can do without being the server admins.
I have 2 sites on one domain, one of them were a sub folder of my main site.
My mainsite worked fine, my subsite did not until IchBin went in and changed the permissions to the correct one for it to show up.
So indeed a server configuration issue.

My host said there is nothing wrong there end as must be related to the mod.

Then, your host really doesent know what they are talking about.
To convince you, copy your error and add it in a google search, you will see that the Apache are configured wrongly for the permissions and owner of your files.

Well there are several support teams at my host. I will contact main host as he is in my messenger list. He knows it all so he can help advise more on the matter.
I did do a google search and it all seems to be relating to permissions.
Just so i can double check.
Which files and folders relating to tinyportal shoud be CHMODed ? As i will try again tonight when my website is empty and try 755 and 777 and see what happens.

all should work with 755 or 777 except for the htaccess files
what files you can see in our docsection ( or just look at the files from the package )
But you should not have to change them at all if your host have a correct configurated server

My host has spoken to second level support team the big guys, they have stated it would be a script issue and means an error within the script somewhere.
I am at the end of my tether. Everything seems great apart from when i click on tinyportal links in admin i get internal server error 500.
I really wanted Tiny Portal as it has everything and more with what i need.
If someone would like to help install it for me or can advise further please do as i have been trying everything for past several days.

Ask the "big guys" to show the script they say causes the internal server issue on your server and paste it here so we can look at it.
If they say it's one of our scripts, then they should not have any troubble giving that part of the code to you for us here to look at.
IMHO, they are full of BS ;)
Well I did not give them the Tiny Portal script but they said those errors relate to script issues. I was going to do a manual install but find it so confusing.
The manuall install will not be any diffrent in the files from an install through the package manager, so ask them what script and for them to point to it, and paste it here and we go from there.
Looks like you have moved on to simple portal anyway. Was going to offer to look at it, but never mind. lol
mmm, no simple portal is what i currently have, i want to switch from Simple Portal, it uninstalls perfectly well so i then go and install Tiny Portal and i have that problem.
If I were you, I'd try to install it to a test site first. If that succeeds, it would indicate something is wrong with your configuration on your live install. Perhaps another mod is causing problems. But hard to say without troubleshooting.
