OK what version do I use? Also I tried .098 and got this
An Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable
using smf 1.1.6 :uglystupid2:
If you want to have tp v098 ( most stable one ) you have a link for download in a stickytopic in this board
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/board,110.0.html
thats the version I tried and got the error message that I posted
Use this one
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php/topic,25916.0.html
nope no good got this
Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/usr431/home/e/r/ericmgat/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/./tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/locl/lib/php') in /usr431/home/e/r/ericmgat/public_html/forum/Sources/Packages.php on line 552
Then you have to do the install manually as your server seem to have restrictions to the owner of the files ( Permissions )
This is what you have to read through and the steps you need to take to get tp installed the manuall way.
How do I manually install TinyPortal (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=29)
Modification Instructions (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=140)
that didnt work either because there are two files named index.php and I cant put both of them in the same file...
why must this be such a pain :uglystupid2:
Two files named index.php? What are you talking about?
does one file have a "~" on it?? :o
•Themes Directory/default: index.template.php
•Forum Directory: index.php
when downloaded the both say index php
seem like zero help and zero support..I'll look elsewheres for some help,
sorry to see you feel that way.

seems like zero effort on your part.
Notice the difference:
- index.template.php
- index.php

You might want to make sure you have followed the checklist for the files that need their permissions set at CHMOD 777 or 755. No packages will install otherwise.
here is the actual guide for chmoding the files for your site:
http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=5
and if you have patience, the crew here is the best.. they all work hard and if you give the benifit of the doubt, since you are new to site installs, you will be up and running in no time..
i wish you good luck and if you have any more troubles, try to list them as they come and someone will be more that glad to help you out.. ;)
