Title: What To Do When You Can Not Uninstall A Mod
Post by: sheik28 on October 24, 2008, 03:58:30 AM
** I posted this over at simplemachines and I figured it could be useful here as well **

For those who are like me and do dumb things, like install this mod (the mod in question was the pretty urls mod) without testing and then not being able to uninstall afterwards... I found a way where you don't have to replace every modified file.
All you need to do is play with the URL's.
For example... t uninstall this mod that you shouldn't have installed to begin with simply enter

http://YOURWEBADDRESS.com/index.php?action=packages;sa=uninstall2;package=prettyurls-0-8-5.tar.gz

So now in theory you co9uld substitute the package name at the end (prettyurls-0-8-5.tar.gz  for whatever package name you need to uninstall.
I took a shot when I screwed up and it worked.
Hopefully it will for you.  :)

That link is the same as if you clicked the uninstall link in your admin panel for the mod...

Yes it is. But if you install a mod that completely screws your TP/SMF up, like oh I don't know.. the prettyurls mod that is a way out of it. However now I have seen that the author has a fix already set-up so my little contribution is pretty much useless.
