Perhaps it would be better if you just told me what you are trying to achieve. What do you want to display on your front page?
If you're asking me, I want to show what I have set in the settings. The front page is not the main issue as far as I'm concerned. The main issue is that I e.g. cannot use article or category items in my menu, since they don't show up at all (not even in the block editor). And the site I'm building up relies quite heavily on articles and a (sub)category structure.

Would you mind if I take a look?

Of course not, IchBin. I'll pm you!
Not sure this will help, but I too am having an issue with articles showing up. What could help though is i have near identical test site with the v1.0.5 which can be used for comparison.
TP 1.0.5 beta1
http://www.sylnx.com/test/index.php?page=3
TP v.1.0.6 beta 2
http://www.eoiguild.com/index.php?page=7
Neither site shows any articles for me. How is the comparison supposed to help?

I am using the catogory/article to display the roster page. On my previous version this shows up as a page, the new version, nothing shows up. They are configured the same, and it is a fairly simple setup, so I though that it may be easier to diagnose the problem.

For me the 105beta page shows an article (the roster) but not the 106 one...
I have split the topic off to separate the issues. The category/article menu type just needed a new menu item to be created.
--edit--
I take that back. The article menu works, but not the category. Still looking at it.
Ok, some bugs found here. However, looking at your site Misjka it kind of looks like your site may not have installed properly or something. I can replicate the menu bug as far as after making a category menu item, it doesn't allow you to assign a different category without creating a new menu item. However, I do NOT have the same problem of not being able to view the categories or articles when clicking on thelink to go to the category or article. For now, I'm not sure what to tell you. But if I were I would do another install on a test site or something to see if you can replicate the same problems of not viewing the articles and categories.

I tried deleting the category and setting up a new article. Still doesn't work

OK, thanks a lot IchBin!
1) If I recall correctly, the very first released package of the beta 2 was faulty? At least, as I installed it it showed the wrong release number (105) and stuff... So I uninstalled it, downloaded the updated package and installed it with success. Might that have anything to do with it?
2) Regarding the viewing of articles and categories, did you do it from within the TP admin panel? If so, that works for me too. But I cannot view them from e.g. the menu or when I'd like to preview them from within the article editor....
If you feel you are done with my site, I'd go ahead with a backuped version and try to repeat the upgrade 105->106.
Argh >:(.
1) Made a backup restore of db and files. Went just fine :). Current version was then 105.
2) Downloaded tp1063 from the download section here.
3) Uploaded the package via package mgr. Went fine :).
4) Used the Upgrade option of tp1063 package in package mgr. Went fine, no errors reported.
5) Viewed my site. Same behaviour like before: E.g. cannot preview articles within article editor, and no categories show up... :-\
Regarding #4 above: Should I uninstall 105 before installing 106?
Yes I'm done on your site. You shouldn't have to uninstall beta1 to install beta2.

OK, then it seems like I'll be stuck with these errors in 106... But if you're up to it, I could restore to 105 once again + upload the 106 package. Then you may login and view the site before upgrading it, and then perform the upgrade yourself. How does that sound to you, IchBin?
I've reported this to the bug tracker. I've done all that I can think of at the moment.
Oki :).
