I am at:
Admin>Articles and Categories>Settings
Options for the editor:
Use the WYSIWYG editor?: No
yes, FCKeditor
yes, WhizzyWig
I try to check the radio button for the FCK editor, click save. The option always goes back to yes, WhizzyWig being checked in the radio button.
It seems I can choose no, or WhizzyWig, but not the fck editor.
I have done a search and there are topics, but all for old versions and from 2007.
Am I missing something stupid like an option in TP settings or something?
I even changed permissions on the fck folder and files to 777 to see if that would help, but that made no difference.
Guess I should change them back.
Any suggestions? I seem to be the only one with this problem as of this version, or I missed something in the search.
Thanks in advance, and yes, I know I'm getting to be a pain. :)
Clear cache and temp internet files, restart your browser, and try again
Cleared cache and private data using FF2. Entered CTRL+F5 also.
Still no go.
Must be something missing in your files
Try to check your install with the help of the modinstructions and the manual install guide.
How do I manually install TinyPortal (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=29)
Modification Instructions (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=140)
Ok. I tried that for article permissions on another site and it didn't help, but I'll try it again for this one. :)
Hope it works.
I will cross my fingers
Ok, let's time it from the time I click the 2 links above, just for fun.
Ready...Go
time out...dinner..5:28 eastern time
Time in
Time!
Not Fixed. :(
See attached file for what it did.
I saw only 3 possible files that needed edits.
Style.css
index.template.php
Profile.php
And I don't think I actually changed anything in them.
This didn't work on my other site either. Either I'm missing something, or .....I have no idea what else it could be.
Oh sad day.... :(
I attached my original files if anyone cares to take a look and here's my server info. I've had it. 2 sites now with no fix, and it's only affecting me. Has to be a database or server issue or an alien implant in my body affecting my forums.

Please delete the link when your done.
Thanks for the help,

I can assure you that the frustration will not help, not the bumping of posts eather.
If you are upset, take a walk and come back with a fresh mind.
I wasn't bumping this post, I was just trying to have some fun with the installatiion, I thought you may find some humor in it. The additional posts weren't meant to illicit a response from anyone, just tracking my progress. Guess you didn't see that.
As for frustration,...that continues. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. I have followed all instructions and still have the same problem. That includes the problem I reported for support in this thread, as well as the other thread I linked earlier.
Now, if we continue down a logical path to a solution, we can dismiss a manual installation as a fix to this problem, unless, I made an error in the process. But that would mean I errored twice, both in this installation and the other thread which proposes the same solution. That's why I attached my original files in a zip so that anyone may check them to see if they can find something that I am missing.
So, I went to my admin panel, cleared my error log, went the article settings and tried to change to the fck editor once again. It still won't change, but doesn't produce any errors in the log either.
The errors I did have involved the file "TPortal.php". I can't seem to reproduce them right now, but I believe they came from not being able to turn off, or on blocks, which is a known bug. Sorry, but I didn't copy the error before I cleared the log. When and if it shows up again, I'll add it if you find it significant.
So, I was thinking something has to be up with the server configuration, or the database, not being able to fullfill the request from the php function.
Bluto goes into the error log for the site. And AHA!, what does he find, on the first line of the error log for www.sbmtrader,
[Thu Oct 16 00:41:56 2008] [error] [client 66.249.73.121] mod_security: Access denied with code 503. Error normalising REQUEST_URI: Invalid character detected [0] [severity "EMERGENCY"] [hostname "www.sbmtrader.com"] [uri "/index.php?topic=13.msg%msg_id%"] [unique_id "@6x0M0Bvb5AAAHxsDG4AAAAZ"]
Although it doesn't show in my info.php, it appears my host has installed this new mod_security thingy I heard about over at SMF forums, that causes all kinds of problems.
Could this be the issue? The fck editor always used to work and still does on older forums I still have installed, including 1 that uses tp .098, and another that uses TP 1.0.5
All these sites are on the same server, under the same account.
The differences being, that:
1. My test site referred to is a fresh install.
2. This site in question in this thread, sbmtrader.com, is a slighlty older, but the second newest install, AND, for this site, I installed my own php.ini so that I could get the functionality required for SMF Classifieds and an auction system.
So the first thing I'm going to do is ask my host about the mod_security and ask them to disable it.
If that helps, I'll report back.
I've would attach the servor error log but it has way to much sensitive data in it.
Otherwise, I'm open to suggestiions. I provided all the additional information I thought may be relevant. If you need access, or anything else, just ask.
Thanks for your patience and persistance. :)

There's a post at SMF about what to do when mod_security is enabled. You should find that and try anything that it suggests and see if it helps.

OK, I have put in a ticket to my host and am waiting on a reply. BUT !!
I have found the solution to the problem by using another regular member account. I looked in my regular member profile at the settings and saw that FCK editor was enabled and I thought, AHA!
So I went to my admin profile, once I checked fck editor in my profile settings, now I can set the fck editor as the default editor for articles.
I'm not sure what one has to do with the other, but it does fix the issue. ;D
EDIT: I deeply appreciate your patience, I'm sure your losing it with me at this point but, maybe this will help someone else also.
EDit 2: mod_security is now disabled on all my sites. I'll see what happens now. Maybe this will fix the issue in my other support thread.
Oh, mark this solved then.
It was mod_security then?
No, it was enabling the fck editor under my admin profile.
I don't know how that would effect the options for the articles, but it did.
Are you saying having it disabled in your admin account profile, disabled it for everyone? Sorry, don't quite get what you're saying..
Yes, having the option disabled for the fck editor in my admin profile, would not let me set the option to use the fck editor in the article options settings under:
TP Admin>Articles and Categories>Settings
Bluto (or anyone), I don't understand what you mean by "enabling the fck editor under my admin profile" ....
I don't see a specific location in the Admin Profile to enable FCK editor. I'm seeing this same bug on a fresh install of TP1.0.6 on top of SMF 1.1.5
Go your profile, not in the admin page, but on the home page from the navigation menu.It should look something like this at the top of the page:
Home: Forum: Help: Admin: Messages: Profile: Search: Logout
Click Profile
Once on your profile page, go to Tiny Portal>Articles>Settings
Select "yes", fck editor.
It's the same for TP 1,0.5 or TP 1.0.6
Okay thanks Bluto. I've just confirmed that this works. Looks like it needs to be enabled for each user that intends to use FCK editor. So I enabled it for myself as Admin user but then I had to go and specifically enable it for another test user who was setup as a 'Global Moderator". Before I enabled it, neither one was able to use FCK editor.
Good deal, and good to know. Glad you got it figured/
