Bloc, I've got a big problem.
Just tried uploading tp_amber11rc2 with package manager. After a few seconds it came with: "Package is not valid or damaged" (translated from Dutch)
Then I tried to upload the files from the archive with my ftp-programm. When I tried to open my forum, it gave a error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_sidebar() in /data/members/paid/j/u/justice4u.nl/htdocs/formule1/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 217
At this point I can't access my Administration.
Is my Forum doomed or what?
Hope you can help me with this, otherwise I have to build a new forum.
I don't think you have the right theme. Please download this package and replace the file through your ftp.
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get78
If that does not fix your problem we can always go into the database and change which theme you are using. You are not doomed... :)
put this for ur url
www.yoursite.com/forumdirectory/index.php?theme=1
that will set you to your default theme.
Ah yes, forgot about that. Nice one Moo!
Okay, thanx for the support. Sadly, it didn't work out. I will try to tell what happened. (I'm Dutch so I might make some language-errors)
First, I deleted all AMBER files in the Themes-directory on the server.
Second, I uploaded all files from the archive you gave me.
Third, I took a look at the forum, the same error appeared.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_sidebar() in /data/members/paid/j/u/justice4u.nl/htdocs/formule1/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 217
If I'm not mistaken, this has something to do with the scrypt, or am I wrong?
Thanx for the support, again!
Damn, I've got to get to work. Thanx, I will read back this later!
Please post a link so we can see.
Im back, the link is: http://formule1.justice4u.nl (http://formule1.justice4u.nl)
Thanx again for helping me. I really appreciate it! (hope I spelled it right!)
Doesent seem like you could be happy for long there, I tryed your link and got this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_sidebar() in /data/members/paid/j/u/justice4u.nl/htdocs/formule1/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 217 :'(
Ehmmm....thats the reason I opened this topic I guess.
It seems your TP install is a little messed up. Have you tried uninstall/reinstall? Or can you still not access the admin panel? To me, it doesn't even look like you have TP installed....
Okey, this is what I will do next, but I will wait for any comments on this:
- I will delete everything from the server. (With or without Database???)
- I will reinstall SMF (which one? smf1.0.6 or smf1.1rc2 better???)
- I will install TP from this forum by using package manager in SMF.
Any comments?
Always uninstall before you delete.
Uninstall before I delete? Can't say I understand.
How do I uninstall on a server???
Use FXP and remove the files before you delete it within the portal
EDIT Read it all wrong, Dont mind this post please... :buck2:
Phew, thats out of my league. But I will try, be sure of that!!! ;)
I will come back when I'm finished!
Okay, going slightly mad now. Look what I've done:
- Uninstalled everything
- Deleted everything (even database)
- uploaded install-zip-file SMF 1.1RC2
- executed the install.php file.
- opened the package manager in the forum
- downloaded the TP v 0.8.6 file from this site.
- opened the zipfile in the package manager.
- manager did not say anything stupid until he gave me a list of test results and asked me to install everything.
When clicking INSTALL NOW:
http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=packages;sa=install2;package=Tinyportal0_86.zip (http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=packages;sa=install2;package=Tinyportal0_86.zip)
I did everything by the book, why isn't it working?
So again, Im asking for your help. If you can ofcourse.
Seems like your index.template.php loads everything more that one time ?
ICE, can you attach a copy of your index.template.php here(from the default theme), so we can take a look at it, and maybe post a fixed one for you?
Is this problem new and am I the only one with that problem? Strange, isnt it.
Could there be something wrong with the database-server? I have one on Lycos Webhosting.
Here you have the attachment. But I don't think there is anything wrong with it, because it came from the original file. (the zipfile from simpleforums)

ICE, I need a copy of the index.template.php from your server. The one modified by the installation of TP.
I see about 10 'upshrink.gif's' next to 'logout' when I am a registered user. And 5 forum tabs in the nav. bar.
First, I will compare that file to a known good one, and see if it's the file, or something else.
Or just try replacing your index.template.php on your server with the one I have attached here.

First things first borgBOB, I'm gonna give you the file from the server...
You do have a lot of the same strings in your index file there in the bottom of whats loading the TP, replace it with the one borgbob gave you, and it should be fixed.

Yes, notice
-> your index.template.php 49.43 KB
-> my index.template.php 32.48 KB
I have found at least 5 duplicate entries for the TP mods in your file.
Use my file, and it will fix your troubles.
I suspect, when you first attempted to do the install, it got part way done, and an error stopped it, but the progress was not re-set to pre-mod state. And perhaps even when you did the last update, it did not overwrite the files as it should have.
If that does not work, just delete the file off your server, and upload the one I gave you. It is possible your ftp does not have the correct permissions to overwrite existing files.
Many thanks to all of you guys, I'm gonna try it immediatly.
IT WORKS !!!! Thanx Thanx Thanx.
I'm gonna make a backup of this and go on installing the magnificent AMBER-theme by Bloc. I cant thank you guys enough for this.
By the way, to install the dutch translation, I just have to upload the unzipped files to the correct directory ok?
After that I need to install Amber with the correct translation.
If not, tell me!!!!! :)
Yes, thats right
OK guys, I wont thank you again, that would be boring I guess. From the Netherlands my best wishes!
No problem, Glad we were able to help this time. Make sure it's a TP compatable Amber theme you install.
I got it from this site, under Themes, SMF1.1RC2.
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item78 (http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item78)
Make sure it's the " tp_amber11rc2.zip" that you have.
Phew, close call, almost installed the wrong one. I asumed that the link on the left (Themes, SMF1.1RC2) already was TP-installed.
You saved me again!!! LOL.
Okey everybody. I had to begin all over again because I done something wrong.....or maybe the server did. Anyway, I have deleted everything from the server, the database included.
After that:
- I uploaded the files from the archive SMF1.1RC2. (Dutch translation included).
- I opened the install.php file on the internet.
- I installed it properly and everything turned out ok.
- I downloaded the last version of TP from this site.
- I opened the Package Manager in my forum.
- I clicked on Download package.
- I inserted the file and in the new screen I clicked on UPLOAD.
- The package is Downloaded, and then I have to click on (translated) USE MOD. There is no other way.
So far I can tell you: Everything by the book.
But when I click on USE MOD (probably to install everything), I got nothing else than a white screen with the text (translated from Dutch, so I hope you understand whitch page I mean) Page cannot be openend. (due to technical problems).
This is the part where everything goes wrong because after this, the TP will never be installed the correct way. This is why I had so many difficulties bringing it back up. (Thanx to you guys I managed it!)
I have tried this for 3 times now, and it all stops at the same point.
And off course I've got the link it's searching for. Maybe you know what to do about it.
http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=packages;sa=install;package=Tinyportal0_86.zip (http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=packages;sa=install;package=Tinyportal0_86.zip)
This is the point that I informed you guys. (Go back to begin of this topic) And I must say, I think that the problem with the calender and all the permissions (mentioned in one of my other topics on this Forum), is due to this error in installing TP.
I certainly hope I made the problem clear to you guys. I don't see how I've could done this different.
It sounds like a server permision problem. You have to grant SMF permission to change/overwrite the files from the mod package. If chmod'ing the index.template.php; load.php, Subs.php; ManagePermissions.php, The Themes and Sources folders, to 777 before the install package in package manager does not work.
Then do a manual install. Directions should be in links in my signature, and within the TP.zip you got from this site.
I don't understand it very much, but if I read it correct, the server is the problem. Okey. So, how do I change it? I've tried to change it with the menu Options in the Package Manager, but everytime I try to fill out the formquestions, he returns to that same form without changing anything.
With formquestions I mean: FTP-server, Port, username, etc etc.
I guess I'm not very good with this. Should I continue? :(
YES! NO!
That is what I say here all the time, behind my desk.
I managed to fill in the correct terms (Package Manager / Options),
like FTP, username, etc etc. SMF seems to accept the values I gave him.
But after a little time: http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=cleanperms (http://formule1.justice4u.nl/index.php?action=cleanperms)
Check the permissions again. Check that the directory SMF is in is 777, the root for that site if you can (change it back after the install), and all files. Check things like the default theme buttons, especially. I knwo it desnt say to set them to 777, but this has stopped an install for me before (some buttons are overwritten by TP).

It is no use giving links to your admin area. Nobody but you can see what is in there. Use you FTP program to check and change the file permissions, if you cannot do it through Admin.
I'm sorry, I thought it may help you guys by giving the link the forum is searching for.
I like to know where I can find 777. Or the place where I can put it there. Has it something to do with passive FTP? I found it in Macromedia FTP.
I tried to understand the options op Macromedia Dreamweaver, the FTP-programm I use, but it's difficult. To be sure it's not the programm, I'm now uploading the smf-files with the server-FTP-programma itself. Maybe it will work, maybe not.
By the way, before all this......
I checked the properties of, by example, the index.php file on the server. The writing permissions where only for me!?!?!?!!? That is why I thought maybe Dreamweaver made the error during uploading, uploading it with the wrong file-properties.
Hope to come back with better news, but let me tell you this: It's not so easy as it seams to be, installing a forum on your website!
