Ok, I followed the instructions to install TP on my SMF... actually its a mirror copy of my SMF forum.
The package manager reported that everything installed correctly, but when I restarted the forum, I got these errors:
Warning: main(/home/enchant/public_html/smf/Sources/TPortal.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/enchant/public_html/smf/index.php on line 53
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/enchant/public_html/smf/Sources/TPortal.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/enchant/public_html/smf/index.php on line 53
So,,, any suggestions?
Thanks
PeterL
Check to make sure the files are actually there.
Failed to open stream, sounds like you temp. lost connection to your server/ SQL database. Can you provide a link, and perhaps check the status of your server, unless of course this is a local test installation.

Which files???
If you mean index.php... it is there...
if you mean Tportal.php, it is not there.

I'm not sure what you mean by "provide a link" but the server seems to be working. I can get my old forum, before TP.
Here's the site:
www.enchantment.ca/smf/index.php
Hmmm.. I wonder if there's path problems because the second mirrored copy of my SMF forum is in a folder OFF the original SMF forum?
Thanks for your help
There is a problem here...
Warning: main(/home/enchant/public_html/smf/Sources/TPortal.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/enchant/public_html/smf/index.php on line 53
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/enchant/public_html/smf/Sources/TPortal.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/enchant/public_html/smf/index.php on line 53
Do you have to directories named smf?
Yup...Like I said above... my "smf" directory is a sub folder (sub directory) off my main data directory called /public_html
Here's what Line 53 looks like:
// TinyPortal include
require_once($sourcedir . '/TPortal.php');
Any suggestions?
Thanks
It may be as borgBoB mentioned I lost connection - because I cannot find the file TPortal.php in the /Sources directory.
Can I simply re-install? Hmmm not even sure if I can do that because I can't get into the SMF forum to use the package manager.
Help!
just upload the files.
Your directories are fine. Your just missing files.
yes, but un-install 1st, then re-install

Ok sounds good, but I cannot use the package manager in smf to uninstall. So, do I just delete all the TP files?
What all do i need to do to uninstall?
Thanks
Peter
Do not "just delete the tp files" just yet.
The code is still gonna be there. It may make things worse.
Did you try uninstall in the package manager, what did it say?
Try uploading the missing files first. Don't un/reinstall just yet
Upload all the original files and folders of SMF and over right everything, then just install TP via Package manager, should do the trick
Ok here's what I did:
Because I did not see the file TPortal.php in the ?Sources directory, I copied one I extracted from the archive that I downloaded from this site.
I tried it again and got this:
An Error Has Occurred!
Unable to load the 'TPortalBlocks' template.
Ok I got that file TPOrtalBlocks copied also and that seems to have fixed it.... at least i can now get into the SMF package manager.
Do you think I should un-install now and re-install?
Thanks
Peter
Your missing that file too.
Nothing yet. Check to see if it says it's installed.
You may have been just missing files. If you suffer from packet loss, while SMF was rewriting files to install TP, it may have dropped the files you where missing. All the code rewriting may have been done.
It may work just after uploading teh files.
If it doesn't, then check it see if it is installed via package manager. If it's not. It says "Apply Mod" then apply it.
If it is installed then "Uninstall" and let us know what your failure/errors are before proceeding.
If there are no errors, then continue to uninstall, then FTP every file up again, just to be sure. Then install.
Borg was right when he said you may have lost temp connection, or just suffering from packet loss. You on DSL connection?
Yup... the mod for TP shows as installed.. I'll uninstall now and let you know what happened..
Thanks

Hahahha are you kidding me? I'm out in the boonies on dialup....
I haven;t had a fast connection in many years... sob....
Ok here goes with un-install...
It shows installed, but not working? Your using a TP them right? Or set to teh default?
hehe, ok just uninstall.
DSL connection also runs through a phone line. Phone line ssuffer packet loss like crazy.
Here's the uninstall actions:
Installing this package will perform the following actions:
Type Action Description
1. Execute Modification ./index.php Test successful
2. Execute Modification ./Sources/Load.php Test successful
3. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test successful
4. Execute Modification ./Themes/babylon/index.template.php Test successful
5. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Test successful
6. Execute Modification ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test successful
7. Execute Modification ./Sources/Security.php Test successful
ok, appears to be un-installed successfully.
The original install package for Tp is 180203 in size and I'm gonna download that again from the TP site and see if its different. Then I'll install again and report back here.
Thanks
Peter
You should be good to go then.
Ok, I've re-installed... but I don;t see where I can start to modify TP...
Where do I start?
I think it still is not installed correctly. I don't see any way to modify TP, yet I'm logged in SMF as ADMIN.
I only saw TP in admin mode once but I recall there is a menu item allowing me to edit TP's blocks, right?
I see nothing in my installation.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Peter
Admin links are located in the userbox, that is by default put on the left column. If you do not see any columns make sure you are on the SMF default theme. If you still don't see them you probably don't have TP installed.
Interesting...
I reloaded my site in IE instead of FireFox and in IE I get some box outlines with little red x's in them, in the USER box on the left.
I've uninstalled and re-installed TP twice now and both times it installed like this.
I'm stymied.... maybe I need to re-install SMF and then re-install TP. I'm working on a "test" SMF site.
Whatcha think?
Peter
You need to copy over all the tp*.gif files from the default themes images/ directory.
Ok, I did that and got a few little yellow dots, but still no menu items.
I think when i hold mouse over an item it should show what the action is for that item, right? When I do so, it shows nothing.
If you'd like admin access to look at yourself let me know and I'll email it to you.
Thanks
Peter
Ok, I've been copying more files over from the archive and I'm now starting to get some admin functions....
But I'm not very confident that everything works in this install yet...
I'll try some of the functions and report back.
Thanks
Peter L
How about just uploading the content in "TinyPortal_086_files_only.zip"? There all are laid out in correct folders and should be correct when up.

Yeah well, my hope was that SMF would install it through the Package Manager easily.
I think I've got it fixed though...
What I did was uninstall it again and then I checked directory access and chmod'ed the SMF dir to allow everything.
Then I re-installed and it seems to be ok. I dunno if that;s what caused the problem, but it seems to work now.
If it was because the directory didn't allow itself to be written to, an error message would have solved the problem right away.
Anyhow, I'm continuing to explore in TP and discover new things. I'm certainly impressed with the quick support I received here today.
Thanks
Peter
