There isn't any problem as such, just confusion. I have TP 0.9.8 installed, and want to upgrade. A way is to uninstall TP first and then install new version. But I do not have 'uninstall' link besides mod TP in SMF package manager, only have 'list files' and 'delete'. (Even if I switch to SMF core theme). This is when I am at the 'Browse Package' tab. Additionally, when I go to 'installed packages' tab and click on 'uninstall' besides TP, I get error "This package cannot be uninstalled, because there is no uninstaller!
Please contact the mod author for more information Should I delete (provided it doesn't delete data) or upgrade manually ? Thanks
Search is your friend ;).
I have posted the answer to this many, many times. Please use the search any time you have a question as they almost ALWAYS have been answered.
Its because you updated SMF and the TP mod doesn't have instructions to tell it your using the newer version of SMF. If you simply download the TP package again, and upload it to replace your file in your package directory, that should give you the uninstall link.
Sorry about not searching, but I'm unable to upload fresh TP 0.9.8 - The package manager instructs to delete the existing file first before it can upload the same-name file. Should I delete the existing TP (will it delete data ?) and then upload 0.9.8, then unstall it and then again upload 1.0.5 ? Thanks again
Ok. I deleted TP, and now I'm unable to install TP 0.9.8 again. What are my options now ? Thanks
You should not have deleted it. You should have uploaded it via FTP and replaced your existing package. Now you will probably have to manually uninstall the mod.
What I feared. Ok, one more question, what can happen if I now simply install TP 1.0.5 ? I'm sure manual uninstall is not what I can do.
The description clearly say you must remove the old tp strings ( uninstall) before you install the new.
So the math to your question would be "not good at all"
What you CAN do is to replace all the SMF files with new ones from the big upgrade package and by that you will have all clean files to work with.
The downpart is that you will have to reinstall all of your mods and also if you have any custom code added in the files, you need to add that back to.
I think I'm good with 0.9.8 - for life ! Thanks everybody, I sincerely hope this thread helps someone else.
I had the same thing happen to me pal.
