Title: TP8 Timescale
Post by: redeye on February 01, 2006, 06:36:33 PM
Is there any indication of when TP.8* will be released.

A week, a month, 2 months, ..............

I know the usual answer is "when it's ready", but would just like some sort of rough timescale.

Thanks

When Bloc is done with it  :coolsmiley:

IchBin told us in a post the other day, That it MIGHT be done within about two weeks, but that was if nothing BIG manage to crash the testing sites now.
So if we are lucky, About two weeks or perhaps a bit more.

I had a dream last night that TP 0.8.X was complete and available for download. It was the best dream I have ever had! I woke up and rushed to my computer hoping that the dream was a sign........

So now today I will again be patient and wait for what is going to be the most awesome version of TP yet, and i will not lose faith in Bloc.

Here is a Thank You to Bloc and the entire Tiny Portal Team for working so hard on the best program out there!

Just an idea for the future:

why not making tp that way modular that problems on parts of the code could be updated later and finished parts can spread as a fix ?

For example :

Tp 8.X will be released (i know when it's done ^^ ). So the Crew went on to finish tp 9.X ... ok so far, but instead on releasing a complete new tp why not to spread for example the download manager when its ready ? or like some small fixes for tp 7 and smf 1.1rc1 ?

Imho tp needs only a full upgrade with a new release of smf. other time just spread small modules when they done.

Bloc is trying. He has been releasing updates to bug fixes everyday, sometimes twice a day. So often, that we haven't really been keeping up with version number. We just call it .86. The past week, he has really been on the ball with TP. He thought he was ready to release it and thier seems to be an issue. It's not quite clear to me what it is.

I'll be brave enough to say any day now.

The only major thing that has been added is the download manager. Other than that, it's just small features here and there that have been added. As far as the way he's doing it, I think he should just keep on doing the same thing instead of changing the way he does everything right now.

As this is a mod to SMF, i do not think a 'modular' release is practicle. If this was a stand-alone, then you could add bits and pieces here and there. But much of the updates to TP involve quite a bit of changes, so the way Bloc is relasing it is probably best. ;)

I can't wait until TP 0.8. I recently had to update my forum to 1.1 RC2 and now can't use TP. :(

Me neither. That's ok, as long as it takes to be done right.
