Title: messages
Post by: martinmarinekeeper on May 21, 2008, 10:30:09 AM
hi all can someone shed some light on this

i have done some search's and not found anything like what i have

i have upgraded to v1.0.5 and since doing so i have lost tab buttons in the message section
members no longer get a audiable for pm's but thats neither here nor there realy but what is missing is the tabs for reply and quote,  this applies to all members except admin, even global mods are effected by this change and only have the remove tab

i have looked at the message options on mine ( admin and compaired them to a global mod two lap tops side by side ) and both are identical settings, So is there something in the tp setting i not seing, I wouldnt have thought so tho as the mods are more for blocks etc ( many new featureas well GREAT JOB ALL THOSE THAT WORKED ON IT  )
i have included two pics to show the diffrence
the one with the remove only tab is a general member, the other with all three is admin

What happens with the Default theme?
How did you install TP 1.0.5? IIRC, you were attempting a manual install?
Did you do it correctly?
Errors in the Error logs?

i picked a poor excaple for the top pic really but the whole forum is running on default except for one or two members and the top pic is one of those, but the issues are the same for those running on default

install of pt 1.0.5 did my headin good sytle as i couldnt locate any file mentioned in the help topic on that, But all was goodin the end with lots of help from G6

What about the error log?

And the screenshot doesn't look like the default theme I just had a look at on your site.

Hmm.. Thats odd then. Did G6 install it for you? If she has, you might want to wait for her to come online and she may have an idea whats going on.

I can't see how the installation of TP 1.0.5 would have affected the posting buttons.. unless some code was accidentally removed during the upgrade.

So, you have no

Reply, Edit, Link To Calendar, Remove, Move.. etc tabs?

thats the funny thing yes i have them on everything else just not in the messages everything else works fine except the smile's on the tp shout box, no prob i just deactivated them, and g6 couldnt find the folder for the sarcasmic smiley's witch coused error logs, so i reinstalled them and havnt had a error since,

so the prob is just in the messages, thats what made me think it was something that had been turnedoff or somethingbut i cannot find anything that could turn them off,

Right.. So, you are reading through a topic and the Tabs are missing?
I think I'll let G6 get to this and reply when she can... I'm not sure whats going on.. but there is no setting that would affect your ability to view them as Admin when Logged in. Admin see all.. Well, most things.

I must be missing the point here. When I login using that username and Pass, the site switched to Dilber MC, meaning that you haven't reset all members to the default.

I see these posting tabs fine: Reply  |  Notify  |  Mark unread  |  Print

I have a Doctors appointment and need to go..

I'm not sure what it is I'm meant to be seeing.. or rather, not seeing.

2 things:

1. I still don't know what you're talking about. lol
2. Why aren't you asking the audible PM mod author for questions about their mod?

I understand, but it's really the only way of knowing whether the problem is with TP or something else.

Are you absolutely certain that it was all working as it's supposed to before you installed TP?
Title: Re: messages
Post by: martinmarinekeeper on May 21, 2008, 06:07:10 PM
yes it was all 100% before install

And one more question...

Have you added any more mods after you installed TP?

Hold on a bit now.

I installed TP for you yesterday, i told you you had a mess in your files and a whole bunch of errors in your error log.
I didnt change or remove any old code what so ever, just added the code for TP in the index.template.php file as it was the only error given through the package manager.

The other mod was broken even before the tp install, i can imagine that it broke when you upgraded SMF though.
You have several mods in your mod list in the package manager, half of them are not working as they should as i checked through your admin both before TP install and after.
So this has absolutley nothing to do with tp install, the issue were there before that.

g6 i havnt said anything of such just as there not working and as i psoted early on is there anything on tp that would effect this as it all works on admin but not on any other level, solved the one you mentioned about the smiley's i just installed them and that stoped the error from log accuring, Smf said what you saw was coused by installing 1.1.5 then dropping back to 1.4 and i was to reinstall .5 again to cure, but i held off untill i had spoken to you,
